The Council of Agriculture said that "Tainong 13" was bred by a cross between the Kaiying variety and Tainong 8. It has low demand for high temperature, low temperature tolerance, and sweet winter fruit, which is of better quality than other varieties currently cultivated. Because the cultivation and management of this variety does not need bundle leaf sunscreen, the production cost can be saved by about 35000 to 40000 yuan per hectare.

It has strong resistance to withering, thin fruit skin, shallow bud eyes, high sugar content, low acidity, golden flesh color, and pineapple has a strong aroma, sweet and refreshing, excellent flavor, worthy of the best in the fruit, more suitable for autumn and winter production than other varieties.
