Poinsettia belongs to flowering plants and foliage plants. Its flowers are red, the leaves are green at first, and turn red in autumn, which makes people feel very festive, so poinsettias are used in some large celebrations to decorate the scene. However, in the process of maintenance, I believe we all encounter the situation of falling leaves from a poinsettia, so what is the matter of falling leaves from a poinsettia? Let's take a look.

1. The light is too strong

Poinsettia is a short-day plant, do not have direct strong light, and high temperature and strong light in summer, once the strong sunlight shines directly on the leaves of poinsettia, coupled with poor ventilation conditions, then poinsettia leaves are easy to lose because of high temperature drying.

Treatment method: in summer, poinsettia plants should be placed in a well-ventilated place to avoid sun exposure, make appropriate shading places, keep a distance of 50 centimeters between pots, and spray water frequently on the ground to increase air humidity and reduce temperature.

2. Low temperature

Poinsettia likes a warm, humid, cool climate, is not cold-resistant, and the suitable temperature for growth is between 15 and 20 degrees. It is necessary to keep the surrounding environment above 15 degrees in winter, otherwise the leaves of poinsettia will fall off. If attacked by cold wind in winter, it will also lead to a large number of fallen leaves.

Treatment: when the temperature gets lower in winter, find a way to raise the temperature and keep the plant in a relatively stable indoor environment. In the middle of October, it should be placed in a warm place facing south to the sun to ensure that it will not be hit by the cold wind and cause fallen leaves.

3. Improper watering

Poinsettia is afraid of being dry and afraid of waterlogging, the basin soil is too wet, and the photosynthesis of poinsettia can not be carried out well, which will cause plant malnutrition and fallen leaves; but if the basin soil is too dry, it will cause poinsettia physiological lack of water, causing leaves to curl and a large number of fallen leaves.

Treatment method: if it is caused by excessive watering of leaves, poinsettia needs to be put in a ventilated and cool place, give sufficient light during the day, dry the moisture in the soil, then return to normal watering, timely drainage in case of rain, or move indoors. In the basin soil drought should also be timely watering, but to grasp the amount and frequency of watering.

4. Improper fertilization

Poinsettia likes fertilizer, there is a large demand for nitrogen fertilizer in the growing period, if the nitrogen fertilizer supply is insufficient, it will also cause the lower leaves to fall off, but we should also pay attention to control fertilization, if the application of nitrogen fertilizer will lead to overgrowth.

Treatment method: in addition to the base fertilizer used in the pot, apply the thin fertilizer and water after fermentation every 7 days in one month, not too much, do not apply fertilizer during flowering, otherwise it will cause leaf bud anxiety and apply a small amount of compound fertilizer before entering the house in winter. it's good for it to survive the winter.

The above is the reason why poinsettia leaves fell and how to deal with it. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about it, please pay attention to us.
