Yushu is one of the succulent plants favored by many flower growers. Yushu grows faster and can flourish in a short time. If it is not pruned, it will affect the ventilation and light transmittance of the plant, which is not conducive to growth. Therefore, timely pruning can not only make the plant get uniform light, but also shape a beautiful tree shape and improve the ornamental value. So how should Yushu be trimmed? Let's get to know it with the editor.

1. Pruning time

Yushu pruning time is not fixed, generally in April-September this season can be light cutting, but re-cutting must be carried out in the dormant period, so as not to affect its normal biological clock, resulting in slow germination or poor growth of new buds. In the early spring, Yushu has not yet entered the rapid growth period, it can be pruned to stimulate the germination of new buds and make it grow rapidly. When the temperature is below 15 degrees in late autumn, Yushu basically stops growing and gradually enters a dormant or semi-dormant state and can be pruned. If you want to use branches for cutting, it is recommended to prune in spring and autumn, do not choose in hot summer and cold winter, otherwise it is very difficult to survive.

2. Pruning method

The flowering period of Yushu is usually in spring and summer, and after the flower fails, it can be pruned. Generally, it is necessary to cut off the branches that have already flowered. According to the overall shape, we need to retain at least 4 bud points for each branch. After pruning, the positions of these bud points will grow new branches again. During the dormant period of Yushu in winter, pruning can also be carried out. At this time, the pruning is mainly to cut the branches short. According to the overall size of the plant, the length of the branches is about 10-25 cm. It can also be carried out according to the overall shape of the plant. Only in this way can the leaves be layered and staggered. At the same time, it is necessary to remove some withered branches and leaves while truncating the branches, which can make the plant grow more healthily.

3. Pruning matters needing attention

No pruning is recommended when the summer temperature is higher than 35 degrees, and it is best not to prune Yushu when the winter temperature is below 5 degrees. After pruning, the Yushu should be ventilated, bask in the sun, do not get caught in the rain and spray water on the leaves, so that the wound can heal as soon as possible to avoid bacterial infection. Pay attention to weather changes when pruning, to be carried out on sunny days, if you encounter continuous rainy days after pruning, you can use carbendazim to smear the wound, otherwise the wound will shrink and dry due to bacterial infection, affecting ornamental and growth. Should not be exposed to the sun after pruning in spring, and should be kept in a place of ventilation and shelter from rain. Do not spray water to the leaves during the period. Wait for the wound to heal and then move to the outdoor for maintenance.
