After the seed harvest, the orchid blossoms, from the artificial pollination of the last flower, after a series of physiological growth changes, it usually takes 9 months for the seed to mature. The fruit changes from green to ochre red or bright red, with a sense of compactness and sound gently squeezed by the hand, which is a sign of the full maturity of the fruit. At this time, the fruit and arrow should be removed from the root and peeled off the seed. The seeds with full grains, normal development and bud eyes (that is, small black spots) should be put into gauze bags for sowing and reproduction; for non-budding eyes or shrunken seeds, they should be discarded because of their lack of germination ability.

Sowing technology because of the high moisture content of seeds, sowing should be carried out quickly after harvest, otherwise the emergence rate is low, or even lose vitality. The container is made of tile basin or wooden box with good drainage and permeability, which is disinfected with potassium permanganate solution and set aside. There are a variety of sowing methods of Cymbidium, but the materials are easy to find, the technology is not difficult, and the emergence rate is high, which is better than river sand sowing and sawdust sowing. River sand sowing is to wash the fine-grained river sand with clear water and boil it with boiling water, then scrape it flat in the container, arrange the seeds on the sand surface with a distance of about 2 centimeters, and cover them with a thin layer of sand. Sawdust sowing, is the medium thickness of miscellaneous wood sawdust, stir-fry or steam disinfection, put into the container, the thickness of 7 cm to 10 cm. The bud eyes are downward, the spacing is the same as before, cover the seeds with sawdust, pour water thoroughly, and cover the mouth of the container with film or glass.

After the seeds of Cymbidium are sown, the key is to have a suitable condition and environment for humidity and temperature. The water permeability of the river sand is strong, and the water retention is poor. It is found that the humidity of the basin surface is not enough, so it is necessary to immediately water or spray water to keep the water content at about 40%. Sawdust has strong water permeability and water absorption, so it should be watered or sprayed once a day to make sawdust in a moist state. The suitable temperature for seed germination of Cymbidium is between 20 ℃ and 25 ℃. However, the temperature of river sand is low and the temperature of sawdust is high, so the temperature can be adjusted according to sowing medium and season. If the temperature and humidity are well grasped, cotyledons can be produced by sowing in river sand for 30 to 40 days, and sawdust sowing will emerge earlier.

When the seedlings produced a leaf and the stored nutrients and water in the seeds were exhausted, the seedlings began to enter the vegetative growth period by photosynthesis and root absorption. At this time, the seedlings can be removed from the sowing container and planted separately. Generally use 10 cm diameter flowerpots, with loose, well-drained fine soil, 3 plants per pot. Before planting, pick three nests slightly larger and deeper than the seedlings. After the seedlings come out, hold the plant in one hand and insert the roots into the nest, fill it with fine soil in the other hand, and finally pour water thoroughly and keep it in a shady place for a few days. Then gradually increase the exposure time of sunlight and apply liquid fertilizer with a concentration of 1: 20 every half month or so. With the continuous growth of the plant, the concentration of fertilization should be increased accordingly. When the seedling grows to 3 to 4 leaves, it will be planted again. Still use 10 cm diameter pots, only one plant in each pot, according to the seedling water and fertilizer management method for management.
