Watering and fertilization methods and matters needing attention of White Orchid
First, watering
The root system of white orchid is fleshy, the root will rot if watered too much, and the root will wither if there is less water.
The specific measures are as follows: the white orchid begins to germinate in spring and is watered every 2 to 3 days to keep the basin soil loose and moist; in summer, when the white orchid enters the peak growing season, it should be watered once every morning and evening, and in case of heavy rain or continuous overcast rain, the stagnant water in the basin should be poured out in time; watering should be reduced gradually from autumn, or according to the dry and wet condition of the basin soil, if the surface of the basin soil is white, it should be watered once every 5 days or so. After entering the winter, we should pay special attention to prevent the white orchid pot soil from getting too wet or stagnant water. if it is found that the white orchid leaves are red and the tips are brown, it means that there is stagnant water in the roots, watering should be controlled, and the soil should be loosened and ventilation should be strengthened, usually once every 10 days or soil. just keep the pot soil wet.
II. Overwintering
Before Frosts Descent (mid-October), you need to move indoors for the winter and put them in a sunny place. Keep the temperature at 12 degrees Celsius during the day and not less than 6 degrees Celsius at night, otherwise you are vulnerable to frostbite or fallen leaves.
In order to ensure the safety of white orchid overwintering, indoor maintenance should pay attention to four points: ①, pay attention to whether there are gaps in the doors and windows around the white orchid, if the doors and windows are not closed strictly, there is a phenomenon of air leakage, which will cause fallen leaves and should be avoided. ② white orchid has poor soot resistance, so it is best not to put it in the same room with the coal stove. ③ should often spray and scrub the leaves with warm water (15 to 20 degrees Celsius), which can not only make the leaves green and beautiful, but also increase humidity. ④ should pay attention to strictly control the watering amount of white orchids during the overwintering period and water them only when dry.
In the northern region, the white orchid often has fallen leaves during the overwintering period, and the grower should not be nervous, but should move it to a place with higher room temperature and sufficient light, or increase the indoor temperature, as long as its root system is not frostbitten, when the temperature rises in spring, it can be rejuvenated. In mid-April, when the temperature is between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius, the white orchid can be moved to the outdoor sunny place for maintenance.
Third, lighting
White orchids like light, except during the indoor overwintering period, they must receive sufficient sunlight during their growth, otherwise their growth will be affected.
Fourth, fertilization
White orchids like fertilizer, and fertilization in the northern region begins in May, every 10 to 15 days or so, until it stops after flowering (after September). Water should be watered once the next day after fertilization to facilitate plant absorption. The method of family fertilization is simple and easy, which can be prepared with ferrous sulfate (black alum), cake fertilizer and water in the ratio of 1: 5: 100, which can be prepared in a jar after full fermentation and ripening. Bean cake or peanut cake can be selected as cake fertilizer. After budding, white orchid should also be forced to apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1 or 2 times, which is beneficial to flowering.
