Time for cuckoo to change pots and matters needing attention
Rhododendron is a world-famous ornamental flower plant with many varieties and colors, among which the safflower rhododendron is also known as Yingshanhong, which is red all over the mountain when it is in bloom. It is better to cultivate potted plants in the family. Potted plants need to be changed every once in a while because the potted soil is the first. So when is it good for cuckoos to change pots? What should I pay attention to when changing the basin? Let's take a look.
1. Time to change the basin
Cuckoos generally change the basin every two years, otherwise its growth and development will be affected, but each time to change the basin should also choose the appropriate reality, if the blind choice of time to change the basin, it may lead to its death. The best time to change the pot is in spring and autumn, when the cuckoo is in the peak growing season, and the survival rate is the highest in the sun.
2. Selection of basin soil
Every time when changing pots for the cuckoo, we should choose a suitable container according to the size of the cuckoo plant, so that its roots can better stretch and produce more gorgeous flowers. The soil is best prepared according to the original rhododendron dune soil, and the new basin soil can also be made with the mixture of rotten leaf soil, pastoral soil, bark and coarse sand to ensure good permeability and drainage, so as to avoid rotting roots caused by stagnant water at the bottom of the basin, and the roots can quickly adapt to the new basin soil, which is beneficial to the growth of rhododendron.
3. Take off the basin and put on the basin
First of all, put the pot upside down, step on both feet hard to separate the soil basin, try not to hurt the roots, and then wash the roots with clean water. If rotten roots are found to be dealt with in time, as long as the main roots are retained, this can make the roots adapt to the new potted soil as soon as possible. When putting up the pot, you should sell off 1/3 of the soil of the plant, sprinkle a layer of culture soil on the drainage layer, and then put the plant into the basin so that it is about 3 centimeters away from the basin wall, and then fill the prepared culture soil into the gap, gently press it, pour water through it, and put it in a semi-shade place, which can be managed normally after 2 weeks.
4. Points for attention
Stop watering a day or two before changing the basin, let the soil dry and slightly harden, and change the basin with at least 2/3 of the old soil. The flowers, weak branches and dense branches of azaleas should be pruned before changing pots, which can greatly reduce the water transpiration and energy consumption of azaleas. Shading after changing pots should pay attention to heat preservation and moisturization, and it is recommended to cover it with plastic film, which can have a habit similar to that of a greenhouse and make its seedlings take root and sprout faster.
