Because whether the orchid grows well depends on the root, and if the root wants to grow well, it all depends on the soil, so it is said that if you want to raise the orchid well, choosing a good soil is the key.

What kind of soil does the gentleman orchid like?

The magnolia prefers humus soil with loose, well-ventilated and drained soil. The basin soil can be prepared according to the proportion of 4 parts of rotten leaf soil, 4 parts of rotten horse manure, 2 parts of fertile sandy soil, or 6 parts of high quality compost and 4 parts of fertile sandy loam.

When serving the orchid, the bottom of the basin is mixed with some long-acting fertilizers such as cow and horseshoe slices or chicken dung and cottonseed cake, and it can also be mixed with about 20% coal cinder and about 20% grain bran and sawdust to increase soil permeability; it can also be prepared with 1 part of needle and broad-leaf soil, 1 part of mature horse manure or cow dung soil, 1 part of river sand and 1 part of fine furnace ash, and mixed with appropriate amount of rotten bone powder, bean cake, rabbit dung and so on. You can also use 3 parts of pond mud, 3 parts of vegetable garden, 3 parts of river sand, 1 part of compost soil, plus a little calcium superphosphate. Cymbidium likes slightly acidic soil and can be watered with 0.2% ferrous sulfate (black alum) water once a season to adjust the acidity and alkalinity of the soil. Never use clay or alkaline soil. Can also be used special soil, its comprehensive nutrition, loose and breathable, good drainage performance, very suitable for the growth of Cymbidium.

It is also important to prepare nutritious soil for raising magnolia in the south. Can be used in the market of gentleman orchid special soil, can also be prepared by themselves. Preparation of nutritious soil: red loam 60%, sawdust (plus urine retting) 20%, bone powder 10%, ash 10%, stacked sequentially and mixed when used. It requires loose ventilation, good drainage and rich in humus. The fleshy root was not watered for 1-2 weeks before soil change to avoid breaking the fleshy root. If there are too many roots and enough water, you can leave them in the shade for 1-2 days and plant them again when the roots are slightly soft to avoid damage to the roots.
