Rice is the main food crop in our country, and rice is basically grown in the south. When rice will mature is the concern of some farmers. Although the maturity time of different varieties is different, most ordinary times are the same. Well, in fact, what I mainly want to introduce today is that the whole ripening period of rice needs to go through several stages, and how long it will take. To help you understand the real situation of rice ripening.

1. Milk stage

Generally speaking, filling begins a week after flowering. When filling, there is milky slurry inside the grain, which does not harden. As it grows, it begins to accumulate starch nutrients, gradually increases some weight, and finally begins to harden and the color inside begins to turn white. But the shell is still green. This short period of time is called the milk stage. It takes about a week.

2. Wax ripening stage

During this period, the grain begins to harden, but it can still be crushed with your hands, with the hardness of a candle and some substances that feel sticky. The shell green gradually disappears and becomes light yellow, but there is still a little green, not completely. The weight has stabilized by this time. No more weight gain. This period of time is about a week to more than a week.

3. Yellow ripening stage

The millet has completely turned yellow, with no moisture and no sticky substance. At this time, pressing with your hands is not easy to break. At this time, the plant also turned yellow, and only the base of the plant was green. The content of dry matter has been improved, and the maturity has reached more than 95%, which can basically be harvested.

4. Withered and mature period

At this time, the rice grain is fully mature and should be harvested as soon as possible, otherwise, the panicle axis and stem of the growing grain will easily turn yellow and dry, and will be easily broken. The grain falls easily in the field. The soil in the field is basically dry and there is no stagnant water. It looks like only 40% humidity. If it is not harvested at this time, millet will easily become moldy and deteriorate when it rains. Rice ears are relatively heavy, and some are easy to lodge in the field.

Rice maturity will go through these four periods, and it is best to harvest at the yellow maturity stage, which can ensure the yield without loss. Harvest as soon as it is ripe and will not fall. Harvest will not be early, early, may not be mature, there will be a certain loss.
