Geranium, also known as Hydrangea, Chenghong and so on, is a kind of plant belonging to the family Niuniu, which is cultivated in all parts of our country. The ornamental value of geranium is relatively high, and it also has various effects such as hemostasis and detoxification, diuresis and so on. And can also affect people's adrenocortical, can effectively relieve people's stress. So its economic value is very high, so how to cultivate geraniums? Let's take a look at it together.

1. Methods of reproduction

The propagation method of geranium is mainly by cutting propagation. Except that the geranium will enter the dormant period from June to July every year, the rest of the time can be cut. However, it is mainly in spring and autumn, and cuttings are easy to blacken in summer because of the high temperature. The cuttings should be about the length of 10cm, and the top of the branch is suitable. After cutting the cuttings, let the cut dry for a period of time, and then insert it into the sand bed after the cut forms a thin film. Be careful not to go up to the stem bark, otherwise the rooting rate will decrease and it will rot easily. After cutting, put it in a semi-shady place, the temperature is kept at about 15 degrees, and it can take root about 3 weeks after cutting.

2. Temperature control

The temperature requirement of geranium growth is relatively high. When planting, the temperature should be controlled at about 15 degrees, so spring and autumn is the best time to plant. The temperature in winter and summer is very disadvantageous to the growth of geranium. Therefore, we should do a good job in cooling in summer to avoid direct sunlight and proper shade. In the same winter, cold protection and heat preservation should be carried out, and the room temperature should be kept above zero. If it is below zero, it will lead to frostbite of the geranium, making it unable to survive the winter normally and affecting the yield.

3. Water and fertilizer management

Although the geranium likes water, it is not resistant to waterlogging, so watering should be careful not to overdo it. If the geranium is overwatered, it will cause the root to fester. Especially in the hot and muggy environment in summer, if you water too much, it is very easy to cause frost damage. When watering geraniums, the frequency should be controlled at 3-4 days, and each time should be watered thoroughly. Then we should pay attention to control the amount of fertilizer, the amount of fertilizer should not be too much, if too much fertilizer, then it will lead to geranium dehydration. Especially if the nitrogen fertilizer is applied too much, the plant is very easy to grow, and the flowering rate is very low or even no flowering.

4. Points for attention

When planting geraniums, we should pay attention to the selection of soil. Geranium is suitable to grow in sandy soil, if the soil is too sticky and heavy, the permeability is poor, which has a great impact on the growth of geranium. Although geraniums avoid exposure to the sun, they also need plenty of sunlight in their growth. Sufficient light can effectively improve the flowering rate of geraniums, in high temperature, to avoid direct sunlight. Therefore, it should be properly exposed to more sunshine in spring and autumn.

The above is a brief introduction of geranium culture methods and matters needing attention. The cultivation method of geranium is not difficult, but it needs to be carefully managed to ensure the normal growth of geranium. That's all for today's introduction.
