Sesame is a common crop, which is planted in many areas of our country. For farmers, the pursuit of crops is high yield and high quality, and so is sesame. Only when the plant grows well can there be a high yield, but the poor growth of sesame is generally caused by element deficiency, so let's learn about the symptoms and remedies of element deficiency in sesame.

Symptoms of element deficiency in sesame seeds

1. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium deficiency

Sesame needs more nitrogen, if it is deficient in nitrogen at the seedling stage, it will cause its leaves to become green and upright, the basal leaves to become lemon yellow or orange, and the plant to be short. If nitrogen deficiency in the bud stage, it will lead to early maturity and affect the final yield. Sesame phosphorus deficiency will cause the basal leaves to be dark black to grayish green; potassium deficiency will cause wavy curls at the edges of the basal old leaves, lemons fade and mottled, and gradually turn to bright orange until bronzed.

2. Boron deficiency, zinc and calcium

Zinc can affect the synthesis of auxin in plants. When sesame is zinc deficient, the differentiation of leaves is blocked, resulting in smaller leaves and shorter plants. Boron has a great effect on pollen differentiation and reproductive growth of sesame. When soil is boron deficient, the flower is small, the tip of the capsule has obvious withered spots, and it is easy to fall off. Calcium deficiency is very easy to cause leaf tip necrosis, leaf shrinkage, rhizome withering, plant lodging, generally low calcium content in acid soil, if Rain Water leaching, calcium deficiency is very easy to occur.

3. Magnesium, manganese, sulfur and copper deficiency

Sesame magnesium deficiency basal leaf veins will fade green, leaf veins are still green, it is easy to cause leaf withered geese to fall off; sesame is sensitive to manganese fertilizer, manganese deficiency will lead to dark green stripes and small necrotic spots between veins. Sulfur will affect the formation of oil, sesame has a great demand for sulfur, and sulfur deficiency will affect the yield and quality; copper deficiency will show thin growth, green and yellow new leaves, and hinder the reproductive development of buds and flowers from clustered lateral buds.

II. Remedial measures

The three elements of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium can be easily remedied, which can be improved by topdressing urea, ammonium sulfate, calcium superphosphate, potassium chloride and other fertilizers, or foliar spraying urea solution. Zinc can be sprayed with a low concentration of zinc sulfate solution through the leaf; boron can be sprayed with 1% Mel 2% borax solution; calcium deficiency can be foliar sprayed with 0.3% calcium chloride aqueous solution; magnesium deficiency can be foliar sprayed with 1% Manganese Sulfate solution or EDTA chelating fertilizer; sulfur deficiency can be recovered with sulphur fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate and potassium sulfate.
