Orchids stop growing in winter, but the management of this period is directly related to the growth of the next year. Some people, due to improper management in winter, cause frostbite, frostbite, empty root and black spot, even to death. Therefore, every orchid farmer must pay attention to the winter care of orchids. I think we must master the following ten points: first, we must master the correct time to enter the room; second, we should spray anti-disease and insect control drugs before entering the room; third, we should pay attention to anti-freezing; fourth, we should regularly ventilate; fifth, we should prevent the basin soil from being too dry; sixth, we should prevent the basin soil from being too wet; seventh, we should prevent gas; eighth, we should prevent overheating; ninth, we should prevent wet leaves; and tenth, we should be waterproof and irrigated with orchids.

First, it is necessary to grasp the correct time to enter the room.

China has a vast territory and a large temperature difference in the same season, so the time of entering the room cannot be generalized. The time of entering the room should be determined according to the local climate change. I think if it is Chunlan, you can choose to enter the room the day before the weather forecast that it will freeze tomorrow. Some people enter the room when it is less than 10 degrees. I think this is not conducive to the development of flower buds. Entering the house prematurely will lead to the decrease or even non-birth of flower buds in the next autumn, so as long as the temperature is not lower than the cold. Chunlan should let it carry out 10-0 degrees low temperature exercise, such a temperature can also make the orchid tissue more substantial, healthy, the next year new buds strong and powerful.

Second, spray disease and insect control drugs before entering the house

When the temperature is below 5 degrees, choose clear weather to spray 800 times the liquid of thiophanate or carbendazim, such as mustard shell insects, should also be sprayed with pesticides such as cobalt oxide, which can prevent diseases caused by the high temperature of the greenhouse after entering the room.

Third, to prevent freezing

The orchid overwintering room can be a greenhouse (a glass room that can bask in the sun during the day) or a general room or plastic shed, but the minimum temperature must be no lower than I degrees to prevent frostbite. If it is below zero, it will be harmful to any orchid. Do not freeze the orchid in any way. Use an electric heater to heat it up when it is too cold.

Fourth, regular ventilation is required.

In order to keep the orchid from freezing, it can not make the orchid in a long-term unventilated place, which will cause the orchid to freeze and cause black spots on the orchid leaves in spring. The correct way is to open the window and open the door in time when the temperature is high, to promote air convection, but to prevent the cold northwest wind, in addition to freezing, at noon can open the window to breathe.

Fifth, it is necessary to prevent the flowerpot soil from being too dry.

In winter, the orchid stops growing and the water demand is reduced. Because the orchid is a fleshy root, it can not die if the water is cut off, but if the potted soil is dry for a long time, it will lead to the strong orchid root becoming empty root, but it will not be reflected from the orchid leaf for a while. If reflected on the orchid leaf, the orchid root has been badly hurt, and the serious one has been dried to death. This kind of problem often comes from an one-sided understanding of "winter is not wet". When you see the orchid is dry, it only moistens the water at the edge of the basin, and when you see the topsoil is wet, you think that the orchid has been thoroughly watered, causing Langen to dry to death. The correct way is "do not dry, do not water", "water is thoroughly". Too dry orchid pots can be soaked in water.

VI. Avoid being too wet for a long time

Winter is not wet refers to the orchid basin can not keep very warm for a long time, but also avoid big wet after not dry and wet, so there is no doubt that the root will rot. When the orchid pot is thoroughly watered and wet, you can bask in the sun and blow in the wind until the pot soil doesn't look very wet.

VII. anti-fumigation gas

When you want to heat the orchid room, you can't use a coal stove, you can only use an electric stove and an infrared lamp. These heaters also need to keep a certain distance from the orchid (to prevent burning the orchid leaves). If there is no special orchid room, the orchid must be kept out of reach of gas. Because the orchid leaves encounter gas, black spots will appear on the leaves, so we must try our best to avoid them.

8. Guard against overheating

The orchid has been dormant in winter, such as the high temperature is not conducive to the dormancy of the orchid, the most taboo is that the orchid is in a high and low temperature, which will make the orchid plant weak and sick. Therefore, the orchid basin should not be close to the heater, and the sun should also be properly shaded.

Ninth, to prevent wet leaves

When the leaves of orchids are watered in spring, summer and autumn, because it is in the growing season of orchids, the orchids themselves need a lot of water, coupled with outdoor ventilation, they can be blown dry immediately, so black spots are not easy to appear, but if the leaves are wet in winter, they are placed in the greenhouse or in the room. Due to lack of ventilation, the orchid leaves are very easy to produce black spots, so do not spray the orchid leaves until the leaves are covered with dust. Of course, you can also choose an ice-free sunny day to water the orchid leaves at noon, open the window until the orchid leaves dry and then close the window.

10. Waterproof and irrigated orchid heart

When watering in winter, it is best to water people from the edge of the basin, do not pour water into the orchid heart, if you are not careful to irrigate people, you need to dry the orchid heart with a strip of dry cloth to avoid bad heart.

If the above ten points can be achieved, your orchids can spend the winter safely and healthily and usher in the healthy growth of next year.
