The soilless cultivation of Clivia can be started from the following aspects:

1. Cultivation substrate. Available peat soil, vermiculite, ceramsite, pearlite, etc., ceramsite, pearlite is the most ideal.

2. Prepare nutrient solution. The formula of the nutrient solution prepared by ourselves is potassium dihydrogen phosphate 68.5 mg, ammonium sulfate 132 mg, potassium sulfate 174 mg, magnesium sulfate 246 mg, calcium nitrate 236 mg per liter of water, and trace elements are calculated according to constants. You can also buy soilless culture nutrient solution or Clivia special nutrient solution sold on the market and dilute it with cold boiled water according to the prescribed multiple.

3. Select seedlings and wash roots. Clivia plants with vigorous growth and good plant shape are taken out of flower pots, old soil is shaken off, roots are not damaged, soaked in water with similar environmental temperature, roots are cleaned, rotten roots are picked off, and roots are soaked in prepared nutrient solution for 8 to 12 hours to fully absorb nutrients.

4. Plant in the upper pot. Choose a slightly deeper plastic basin or ceramic basin, bottom pad a layer of thick plastic cloth, which first pad 2 cm to 5 cm thick water soaked ceramsite, and then fill a layer of about 2 cm to 5 cm thick wet pearlite, slightly compacted. Place Clivia horizontally in a large flowerpot, add moist pearlite to the root system, hold the root system with both hands and gently place it in the pot, try not to let the pearlite wrapped between the root systems fall, then fill it with moist pearlite from all sides until the flowerpot is 80% full, pay attention to burying it to the root neck. Finally, add a layer of ceramsite on it to prevent pearlite particles from being washed away when adding water or irrigating nutrient solution or ugly green algae appearing on the surface of the substrate due to sunlight. Put a shallow dish at the bottom of the flowerpot to prevent water seepage.

5. Add nutrient solution. When the clivia plants are planted, the prepared nutrient solution can be irrigated until water seeps out of the drain hole at the bottom of the basin, and some clean water is sprayed on the leaves.

6. Daily management. Its requirements for light, temperature and air humidity are the same as those of ordinary soil culture. The exudate received in the shallow dish should be poured back into the basin in time until there is no longer any nutrient exudation. Generally, nutrient solution should be supplemented once every 2 weeks in large pots, with the dosage of 200 ml to 300 ml. Nutrient solution should be applied once a week in medium and small pots, with the dosage of 50 ml to 100 ml. Nutrient solution should be supplemented several times before flowering and during flowering, and water should be replenished once a week.

To prevent accidents, try using seedlings first, and then switch to mature plants for soilless culture after a little experience.
