Fertilization is essential if the yield of vegetables is high. However, fertilization can not be applied casually, and there are some taboos that need our attention. So what problems should be paid attention to in fertilizing vegetables?

I. do not apply ammonium nitrate to leafy vegetables

Chinese cabbage, Chinese cabbage, amaranth, celery, cabbage and so on, during the growth period, it is very easy to absorb nitrate nitrogen fertilizer, such as the application of ammonium nitrate, leafy vegetables absorb nitrate ions, nitrate ions will enter the human body after human consumption, human cumulative poisoning.

Vegetables should not be watered after applying urea

The nitrogen contained in urea is acylammonium nitrogen. Under the action of urease secreted by soil microorganisms, acylammonium nitrogen can be converted into ammonium carbonate or ammonium bicarbonate before it can be absorbed by vegetable roots. If the urea is watered immediately or caught in the rain, the acylammonium nitrogen will be lost. Therefore, no matter urea is used as base fertilizer or topdressing fertilizer for vegetables, it should be watered 5-6 days after application, so as to avoid loss.

Don't use ammonium bicarbonate when the vegetable field is short of water.

The chemical property of ammonium bicarbonate fertilizer is extremely unstable and easy to volatilize. When applying ammonium bicarbonate in vegetable fields, whether it is used as base fertilizer or topdressing fertilizer, it should be applied deeply when the vegetable field is wet, and the soil should be covered immediately after application. If the weather is dry and ammonium bicarbonate must be applied, it can be sprinkled with water or watered after application.

IV. Do not spray high concentration nitrogen fertilizer on leafy vegetables

If urea and ammonium sulfate are sprayed on the leaves of vegetables, although it can make the leaves of vegetables green and good, the content of harmful salts in green leafy vegetables will significantly increase, which will affect the health of consumers.

Do not use ammonium nitrogen fertilizer with high concentration for vegetables in greenhouse

Due to the high temperature and humidity in the greenhouse, the high concentration of ammonium nitrogen fertilizer is easy to decompose under the action of soil enzymes under suitable temperature and humidity conditions, and finally converted into gaseous ammonia, which will lead to ammonia poisoning in vegetables and affect the quality and yield of vegetables.
