How to control the florescence of Cymbidium
According to different varieties, the natural flowering period of Cymbidium can be from October to April of the following year. As one of the mainstream varieties of Lunar New year Flower, producers usually need to regulate the florescence of Cymbidium in order to make its florescence coincide with the annual Spring Festival. So, what aspects should be paid attention to in the florescence regulation of Cymbidium? The reporter interviewed Lu Lei of Yunnan Heye Jiaoda Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., and asked him to share the relevant experience with you.
The regulation of florescence is a kind of man-made intervention taken by producers to make the plants open within the desired time by affecting the normal growth of Cymbidium plants. Therefore, producers should first have a correct understanding of the principle of florescence regulation. Lu Lei believes that the principle of florescence control is to ensure flowering first, and then consider the appropriate regulation of flowering time. Only under the premise of ensuring flowering and high quality can flowering be successfully promoted. The artificial control range is feasible before and after 20 days of normal flowering, and the quality is guaranteed to a certain extent.
When the plant of Cymbidium grows to the third year, the florescence is regulated from June to October. Lu Lei concluded through practice that the main means of regulating the florescence of Magnolia is to artificially control temperature and light. Temperature is the most important factor that determines the morning or evening of flowering. Generally, if you want to postpone flowering, the most effective way is to find a way to lower the temperature. It is best not to exceed 30 ℃ in the shed during the day. If the temperature outside is above 10 ℃ during the day, the closer the temperature inside the shed is to the natural temperature, the more conducive to the delay of flowering. In addition, the flowering period of Cymbidium is basically in winter, so we should pay attention to the low temperature at night, otherwise it is easy to freeze and lead to bud drop. We can determine the temperature that needs to be guaranteed in the greenhouse at night according to the growth of flower buds. In Kunming, the night temperature of the flower control greenhouse is generally kept at 10 ℃ to 12 ℃, but if the flower is accelerated, the night temperature should be relatively higher, generally more than 15 ℃.
Lighting control is mainly realized by covering the shade net. Daytime shading can reduce the temperature to a certain extent, while covering the shading net can not only control the florescence, but also affect the flower color to a certain extent. Due to the strong ultraviolet light in Kunming, the general flower control greenhouse chooses a shade net covering 50% shade rate, and for some yellow and green varieties, it is suggested to add a shade net with a shade rate of 30%, so that the color of the flower will be more pure. For example, if the green variety 'pianist' has more shade during the flowering period, the flower color will be greener, while the red and pink varieties need to increase the light in order to be colorful. However, different varieties have different characteristics, and there may be different results after the same operation.
In order to ensure the healthy growth of the plant, other factors should also be paid attention to. Such as fertilizer management, Lu Lei suggests using slow-acting fertilizer during the winter flower bud growth period, because the application of quick-acting fertilizer will accelerate flower bud growth, and high temperature after fertilization can easily lead to bud loss, especially the use of organic fertilizer should be more cautious. Generally speaking, as long as the flower bud can be properly applied before the flower bud comes out, especially when the flower bud time is delayed. Once the flower bud comes out, it is best to apply an appropriate amount of slow-acting fertilizer, so that the safety factor is greater. "some people are worried that fertilizers will be used to promote ripening in the late flowering period. in fact, this needs to bear certain risks. to some extent, the damage caused by fertilizers to plants is equivalent to drug damage, so I personally think that fertilizing during flowering must be cautious!" Lu Lei said.
In addition, pay attention to ventilation. For flowering seedlings, maintaining air circulation in the greenhouse is not only conducive to plant growth, to a certain extent, control the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, but also can cool down. In the flowering period, it is recommended not to apply pesticides easily, even if the application will not cause drug damage, the remaining spots on leaves and flowers will also affect the beauty of the plant, which is not conducive to sales, so try not to use drugs during the flowering period. it is important to ensure ventilation and keep the shed clean and tidy.
