Fresh-keeping technology of onion
Onions are mainly harvested for eating underground bulbs, so to preserve onions after harvest, they need to be preserved in a suitable environment to keep them fresh, old and dehydrated, and to avoid sprouting during storage. Long-term planting experience, our workers, people have also accumulated a lot of fresh-keeping experience and methods, and then let's take a look at what fresh-keeping methods are available and what we pay attention to.
1. Stacking method
Store in a dry and ventilated room, find some straw to spread on the floor, put the sun-dried onions on top, do not cut off the dry parts of the onions, staggered stacked. Several layers can be piled up, and the top should be covered with a mat to keep warm. High temperature ventilation, low temperature should be covered with straw, can be stored outdoors before winter, and then moved indoors in winter.
2. Basket storing method
The onions are harvested with leaves, and after harvest, bundles are tied into stacks, then the leaves are placed down and the stems are up, and the bulbs are dried in a cool, well-ventilated place. after the bulbs are dried, the leaves are removed and put into the basket to be stored in the cellar for storage and fresh-keeping. Cellar low temperature can inhibit respiration.
3. Stacking method
Find a high, dry place, put wood on the ground, then spread straw, crisscross the unleafed onions on the straw, and then pile them one layer at a time, about three to four layers. Finally, cover the mat with linoleum, cover the surrounding with a mat, and finally tie it up with a rope and seal it with mud. You can check it after it rains. You can take apart and change the straw, wood, mat and dry it.
4. Drying and storing method
Dry the onions with leaves, then weave them up like corn and hang them in a dry, ventilated place where there is no rain. This can always keep dry, will not go bad, will not sprout, pay attention to a length of no more than 1 meter, a bulb with about 80, not too many. You can set up a shelf to hang.
5. Medicament treatment
In the two weeks before harvest, 0.2% maleic hydrazide should be sprayed, about 80 to 100 jin per mu. Spray after the heavy rain to re-spray, do not water within a week before spraying, otherwise the effect is not good. Spraying this agent is mainly to inhibit the respiration of onions and does not germinate during storage.
There are many ways to keep onions fresh, but they all need to be kept dry without humidity. The main purpose is to inhibit the respiration of onion bulbs and prevent them from sprouting during storage. So each method actually has the same purpose, but the effect is not the same.
