The "Jackie Chan Wetland" in Kouhu Township, Yunlin County was originally agricultural arable land, which was formed because of low topography and over-pumping of groundwater, and serious subsidence of strata, resulting in the backflow of seawater. With the "ecological fallow" policy first seen in Taiwan, the Forestry Bureau has leased about 62 hectares of these since 2005 to carry out wetland conservation.
