Flowers absorb water from the soil, so it is important to maintain soil moisture for flower growth and development. According to different flower varieties and cultivation methods, the irrigation amount and irrigation cycle are different, and the irrigation time and irrigation amount should be selected according to the correct method.

1. Reasonable irrigation of ground-planted flowers

Land-planted flowers are often used as landscape vegetation in garden greenbelt, and irrigation of land-planted flowers is relatively simple. In rainy areas, attention should be paid to timely drainage after rain, and in arid areas, appropriate irrigation is needed to maintain soil moisture and create favorable conditions for root growth. In garden irrigation maintenance management, water-saving irrigation measures can be selected according to conditions, such as sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation and micro-irrigation. Flood irrigation is avoided, otherwise water waste will not achieve the effect and it will easily cause flower root rot.

2, according to the conditions to choose the appropriate irrigation method

The irrigation quantity of ground-planted flowers should be determined according to flower varieties, weather, soil and other factors. First of all, according to the growing season, summer temperature is high, evaporation is large, should be more irrigation, winter flowers into dormancy stop growth, low temperature, evaporation is small, less irrigation, no dry irrigation. Generally in the morning irrigation, summer afternoon increased once, winter irrigation appropriate time is after 10 am.

According to different plant species, irrigation methods are also different, broad-leaved and hygrophilous plants can be more irrigation, while small leaves, needles, cacti plants to less irrigation. According to the growth period of flowers, less irrigation should be used in seedling stage, more irrigation should be used in vigorous growth period, and less irrigation should be controlled in seed maturity and dormancy period. In addition, excessive water in flower bud period such as dahlia and gerbera will lead to rot, so pay attention to irrigation control.
