Green onions are thinner on the ground and should be harvested when they are slightly withered and yellow, otherwise they will freeze or rot in frost weather. After harvest, it should also be stored in an appropriate way, and it needs to be kept fresh, not spoiled or spoiled. Therefore, it is necessary to take some measures to keep fresh, generally to create a low temperature, dry environment for storage, there are specific ways.

1. Underground storage

In a shaded, dry, clean place, shelter from the wind, spread 5cm thick sand on the ground, bundle the green onions on the sand, place them densely, and then cover the roots with nearly 20cm of sand. It can be stacked all the time, with a height of about 1 meter, and finally covered with straw or straw, film and other protection.

2. Cellar

First, the harvested green onions are put in the geographical sun for a few days, and after the surface is dry, the bundled roots are stacked down in a sunny, ventilated and dry place to continue to dry, and when the frost comes, they can be transferred to the cellar for storage. the cellar should pay attention to the problem of dampness and be checked frequently, and those that rot should be removed.

3. Cold storage

Cold storage is mainly for short-term storage after harvest, and it is still necessary to keep the green onions fresh and green during storage, so the temperature must be kept at 0 degrees Celsius, not rising, but not directly frozen. During cold storage, you can spray water occasionally to moisturize, and green onions should be packed in a container and put in the cellar. If the oxygen in the cellar can be reduced, the storage time can be prolonged.

4. Fake hiding

When it comes to the harvest time, do not pull out the soil surface, cultivate the soil directly in the roots, so that the soil is deep enough to bury all the green leaves, so that you can keep it until winter and dig it up whenever you want to sell it. Or harvest it home and dig a hole in the yard to bury it, or bury the green onion.

5. Frozen storage

Conducive to natural environmental conditions, after harvest to dry for a few days, let the leaves lose some water can be bundled and moved to the shady eaves, so that low temperatures in winter will naturally freeze green onions, so that they can be kept fresh, and thawing after drying is not easy to rot. If you do not dry in the sun, the leaf cells will have a lot of water, and it will easily break when you move.

There are many ways to keep green onions fresh after harvest, and the preservation methods will be decided according to different requirements. Here, only a few representative fresh-keeping methods are selected to introduce them in detail. In addition, some of the plants left as seeds cannot be frozen, and the green plants should be refrigerated.
