Last Updated: 2024/11/05, The most commonly used propagation methods of succulent plants are sowing, cutting, grafting, dividing plants and so on.

Succulent plant reproduction process is the most common leaf insertion and plant division, can reproduce succulent plants not only these two methods Oh, let's take a look at the following four common succulent plant reproduction methods.

1. Sowing: In succulent plants, except for a few species that can self-pollinate, most are insect-pollinated or ornith-pollinated and must be artificially pollinated to bear fruit. (=_= ) Tragic red dragon fruit, epiphyllum is also.

Succulent plants have short seed lives, such as the seed life of a few weeks. The germination rate of seeds of succulent plants decreases rapidly after 1 year storage at normal temperature. For this reason, many succulents are sown as soon as their seeds are ripe or stored for sowing in the following spring.

2. Cuttings: This is the most common method of propagation of succulent plants, common leaf cuttings, stem cuttings and root cuttings.

Leaf cuttings, often placed on a slightly moist sand bed or loose soil surface, will soon take root, grow adventitious buds at the base of the leaves, forming small plants, such as Tianzhang, Stone Lotus, Big Leaf Rooting, etc.

Stem cutting, in the process of propagation of succulent plants, combined with pruning and shaping, cutting branches into segments for cutting ears, such as desert roses, purple dragon horns, tiger thorns, colorful clouds, etc. In the cut of the wound will flow out of white milk desert rose, African king tree, Qingfeng, etc., must be treated thousand clean, a little dry after cutting, the effect is better.

Root cuttings, green jade fan and other valuable varieties of roots are very strong, developed, will be more mature fleshy roots cut off, buried in the sand bed, the upper part slightly exposed, maintain a certain moisture and bright light, can sprout from the top of the root, forming a complete small plant.

3. Grafting: In succulent plants, grafting is often used to propagate mottled broccoli and modified varieties. For example, Overlord penis as rootstock, grafting Chunfeng; horse tooth tree as rootstock, grafting Yalezhiwu; African Overlord tree as rootstock, grafting African Overlord tree decoration; big flower rhinoceros horn as rootstock, grafting purple dragon horn, etc., ornamental effect is good. However, in the grafting process, due to the white emulsion contained in the plant, the viscosity is large. Therefore, grafting operation should be fast and skilled in order to achieve success.

4. Ramating: Ramating is the easiest and safest way to reproduce succulent plants. Any succulent plant with rosette leaves or clusters can be propagated by means of suctioning buds, stems, bulbs, tubers and plantlets, which can be carried out at the time of pot change in spring. Of course, among the succulent plants, the varieties with spotted brocade, such as Phnom Penh Tiger Tail Orchid, Princess Thunder God Brocade, Evernight City Brocade, Green Jade Fan Brocade, etc., must be propagated through branches in order to maintain the purity of their varieties.
