Apricot planting mainly depends on the seedlings cultivated by seed sowing, and then the superior varieties can be grafted on this basis to cultivate seedlings with excellent characteristics of both varieties. Next, look at how to deal with seeds, how to sow seedlings, and then graft specific operation process, what should be paid attention to.

1. Seed treatment

Apricots are drupaceous fruits, seeds are tightly closed, seed shells are hard, not easy to germinate, not artificially handled, or even germinated. Hot water soaking also has no effect, water can not enter the seed interior. Mainly after picking, eat the pulp, or stack retting rotten, clean after draining preservation. Using clean river sand stratification germination, a layer of sand a layer of seeds, sand in 5 cm thick, or direct sand and seed mixed accumulation.

II. Sowing

Choose the general deep loose soil, tillage 35 cm, rough tillage, and then rotary tillage with machines to ensure that the soil is finely divided. Ridging row sowing, directly according to the planting distance, row spacing 30 cm, plant spacing 20 cm, depth 10 cm or so, one mu with seeds about 30 jin, sowing two rows leaving a blank row.

III. Grafting

1. scion taking

Using bud grafting method, select healthy branches directly on the mother plant, select full buds, cut down obliquely at the top of the bud 1 cm, with a little xylem, cut to the bottom of the bud 0.5 cm, stop. Then use a knife to cut off the bud at 0.5 cm below the bud. The process should be fast, all should be one-size-fits-all, and the incision should be smooth.

2. stock selection, grafting

Select seedlings grown from seed sowing, with a thickness of 0.8 cm and a length of more than 1.2 meters. Cut the internode of rootstock and cut the cambium. Then use the knife to continue in the middle of a vertical cut, about 2 cm long. The skin is cracked in a cross, gently pry a little, slowly put the bud scion in, do not break the rootstock epidermis.

3. Precautions

After grafting, quickly bind scions with transparent film strips to expose buds, and other places cannot be ventilated. After grafting, it should be noted that there should be no other buds growing nearby, which is easy to compete for nutrients. Grafting should be read quickly, pay attention to alignment cambium. After grafting about a week to check survival, can be reconnected.

Apricot seedlings are mainly planted to cultivate rootstocks, and then grafted with other excellent varieties to make seedlings more high-quality. Or direct seeding. Anyway, it depends on your choice. The market is mainly selling grafted seedlings now.
