Many people like to raise lotus bowls in pots, but they generally use lotus pond mud as a substrate and then inject clean water to raise them. Bowl lotus is generally in the pond mud and water coexistence environment to maintain exuberant growth and flowering, and the maintenance and management process is also very simple, even if rough culture in a short period of time, there will be no bad conditions. So, can a bowl of lotus be raised without soil?

In fact, bowl lotus can also be raised without soil, but several conditions need to be met. If you simply use water to raise a bowl of lotus without any matrix, the root of the bowl lotus will not be fixed, and the whole plant will float in the water and wander around, just like a homeless child without a home. Naturally, it doesn't grow well.

First of all, we need to prepare a flowerpot of the right size, original but do not use transparent glass pots, because the root system of bowl lotus is afraid of light, otherwise it will not grow well. It is generally recommended to use a pottery basin that cannot pass through the basin wall, and do not take a water outlet at the bottom to avoid water flowing out from the bottom. Even if there is a hole in the bottom, it should be blocked tightly to avoid running water.

Secondly, the amount of water in our basin should be appropriate, and the water depth should be controlled properly, so that the root of the bowl lotus just touches the bottom, but the leaf is just in line with the water surface. And in the early stage of pot culture, we should change water regularly, change water frequently, try to change water once a week as far as possible, and wait for about three consecutive weeks until the bowl lotus has a certain water purification capacity, and then appropriately reduce the water exchange frequency. however, according to the growth of bowl lotus, water should be added properly to ensure that it can support its stems and leaves.

Third, although we do not use pond mud at the bottom of the basin, in order to prevent plants from floating and wandering around in the basin, it is recommended to lay a layer of perlite or put some pebbles in the bottom of the basin. The main purpose of this is to fix the root of lotus bowl, prevent it from wandering around, and at the same time better promote the growth of lotus. And putting some perlite or pebbles in the bottom of the pot can also play a role in embellishment and improve the ornamental value of potted plants to a certain extent.

Finally, in order to ensure that the bowl lotus can maintain its vigorous growth and bloom beautiful flowers at the same time, we also need to use a little nutrient solution for it. After all, in the absence of basin mud, bowl lotus can not get nutrients from the soil, so the appropriate use of a little nutrient solution can supplement it with some nutrients and lay a good foundation for its growth and flowering. When the plant grows to a certain extent, it will blossom naturally under suitable maintenance conditions.
