Introduction to the characteristics of leaf bouquet and fruit shape of rose banana and rose banana in Taiwan

Rose banana, a perennial herb of the genus Musa of the Banana family, also known as Rose Mountain Banana and Queen Banana, is an agricultural cultivated species. It was introduced from the International Banana species Exchange Center in Belgium in 1995. Diploid banana is one of the series of plantain varieties.

Rose banana, large herb, base often tillering small plant, with underground stem, stem short, buried in the ground, whisker root thick, stem erect, simple leaf, leaf cluster out of pseudostem tip, obliquely spreading, leaf large, long elliptic or elliptic, apex obtuse, base rounded or attenuate, leaf entire or microwave margin, spirally arranged, leaf surface dark green, pinnate parallel vein, middle rib obvious, to the end gradually small, sunken on the front of the leaf and raised on the back. Leaf sheath hypertrophy embracing each other into a pseudostem, cylindrical, petiole hypertrophy, medial groove.

Bisexual flowers, unisexual flowers, monoecious, spikes, zygomorphic, drooping, inflorescences long, inflorescences blooming in segments, each segment protected, upper bracts of inflorescence axis covered by male flowers, lower bracts of inflorescence axis enclosed by bisexual flowers and female flowers, long pedunculate, flower axis tip curved downward, bracts flamelike, color, red, dark purple, lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, caducous, with one or two rows of flowers per bract, male flowers falling early. Sometimes pistils and stamens degenerate into neutral flowers, calyx yellow-white, about four or five centimeters long, petals ovate, about half of sepals, perianth six, two whorls, petaloid, free or outer three and inner two, connate tubular, slightly 2-lipped, stamens five, anthers two-loculed, staminodes one, pistil carpels three, connate, style one, stigma trifid, ovary inferior, three-loculed, axile placenta, inflorescence composed of five to ten segments. Berries, fleshy, cylindrical or triangular, fruit body curved, ripe exocarp yellow, pulp white, seeds small, dark brown, degenerated and unable to germinate.

"Rose banana" is one of the varieties of plantain. Some data think that "rose banana" is "Dan banana". According to banana farmers, the two are not the same variety, and the end of the fruit of "rose banana" is often narrow, such as pointed.

Source: introduced from Belgium International Banana seed Transportation Center in 1995, the origin is unknown, may be a local variety of Indonesia.

Fruit shape: the fruit is slender and pointed, the ripe fruit is bright yellow, the flesh is light yellow, the meat is sweet and fragrant, with banana flavor, the fruit weighs about 5-12 kg.
