Sweet-scented osmanthus is a kind of fragrant flowering plants, and it is also one of the top ten traditional famous flowers in China. Although it is a relatively common popular flower plant, there are many potted friends who plant it as a family pot plant. And in fact, potted sweet-scented osmanthus is very easy to take care of, maintenance is very simple, as long as it can provide a basic conservation environment, it can often make it grow well, blossom more and fragrant.

However, when we plant sweet-scented osmanthus in pots, in order to support its ornamental value, we often need to configure a suitable flowerpot for it. However, there are a wide variety of flowerpots on the market, and flowerpots of all sizes, models, shapes, textures and colors are dazzling, but it is not so easy to find a suitable flowerpot. So, how about growing sweet-scented osmanthus in porcelain pots?

As for using porcelain pots to plant sweet-scented osmanthus in the end, it mainly depends on its texture and whether it can affect the normal growth of the plant. In appearance, regardless of shape or color, porcelain pots are generally very exquisite, and the ornamental value is very high. But we can not choose too exquisite flowerpots to raise sweet-scented osmanthus, after all, potted plants need to highlight the main body of sweet-scented osmanthus trees rather than flowerpots. Generally, flowerpots and plants should be matched in harmony to improve the ornamental value of potted plants as a whole.

But this is not important, the main thing is whether it can have a negative impact on the growth of sweet-scented osmanthus, so we still need to focus on texture analysis. From the material point of view, the porcelain basin is generally poor permeability, not only not conducive to air permeability, but also not conducive to water permeability. On the other hand, sweet-scented osmanthus often requires loose ventilation and strong water permeability to the growth environment, because its root system is very developed, so the underground part is generally relatively large, if porcelain pots are used to grow sweet-scented osmanthus, once it is overwatered, it often brings more serious problems. So, what serious consequences will it bring after too much watering of sweet-scented osmanthus in porcelain pots?

First of all, our use of porcelain basin is contrary to the growth habit of sweet-scented osmanthus. Once the original basin has accumulated water, the porcelain basin will not be able to discharge the excess water in time. Coupled with its poor air permeability, stagnant water will accumulate at the bottom of the basin. On the other hand, a large number of roots of sweet-scented osmanthus will be submerged in the stagnant water at the bottom of the basin, resulting in stuffy roots, which will suffocate their roots and rot over a long period of time. As we all know, flowers and plants have rotten roots when it is more troublesome, light may cause branches and leaves droop, wilting, fallen leaves and other bad phenomena, serious may cause death.

Therefore, we generally do not recommend the use of porcelain pots to plant sweet-scented osmanthus, after all, its air permeability and water permeability is really too poor. We only pursue the beauty of pots and ignore the adverse effects on plant growth. Generally speaking, we recommend using very permeable mud pots to raise flowers and plants such as sweet-scented osmanthus, which are afraid of waterlogging and are not resistant to waterlogging, but the mud pots are not so beautiful in appearance. Of course, we can also take into account both beauty and permeability, and take this approach, that is, to use pottery pots or purple sand pots to raise sweet-scented osmanthus, which is also good.
