In the early spring morning, the door of the patio was pushed open, the sun was pouring, and the lilies flashed among the slender leaves. Green leaves, white flowers, yellow stamens, beautiful and elegant, like a poetic watercolor painting. Lilies are dancing like a graceful girl, intoxicating. Lilies come in all kinds of colors, including pink, white and yellow. Lily is not only suitable for potted ornamental, but also suitable for ground planting as cut flowers, and the underground bulb can also be used for food and medicine, which has the effect of moistening the lungs and relieving cough, clearing the heart and calming the mind.

Whether they are cut lilies planted by themselves or cut lilies bought in the market, flower friends all want to know how to prolong the flowering period of lilies. As long as we handle them properly, we can still prolong some flowering periods. Here we sort out a few points for flower friends' reference!

First of all, we have to get rid of the pollen, because the pollen is not easy to clean up, so when removing the pollen, we should be careful. The method of removal is very simple, just grab it, and to some extent, the flowering period can be prolonged. Because the purpose of plant flowering is to reproduce seeds, if the pollen falls on the stigma, the flowers will wither quickly and reserve nutrients for the seeds.

Here are a few other ways to help prolong flowering:

1. During the journey from the florist to home, the lilies should be protected from direct sunlight.

2. Cut the stem before putting it into the bottle to help the flower stem absorb water. The best way to cut stems is to soak the flower branches in warm water 6 inches deep and cut a 45-degree section with a sharp knife to reduce the amount of air inhaled and maximize moisture absorption.

3. When inserting a bottle, all the flowers and leaves that will be submerged into the water should be cut off to prevent bacteria from reproducing in the water.

4. Add fresh flower nutrients (can be bought in the florist). Lilies need only half the usual dose of nutrients.

5. Lilies like yin and fear yang, and should choose a cool place for back-yang disposal. Change the water every two or three days (and cut new incisions) to keep the water fresh and clean.

Sufficient light plays a decisive role in the flowering ability of lily. With the exception of oriental lilies that need proper shade in the hot summer season, other lilies can spend the summer smoothly in the north. In order to prolong the flowering period, the middle pistil or the surrounding six stamens can be removed at the beginning of blooming. It will stay open as long as the pollination work is not finished. Adding potash fertilizer at flowering stage will make the flowers more colorful and the flowers larger. After flowering, you should pick off the residual flowers in time to prevent excessive nutrient consumption.
