Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Succulent plants have colorful colors and fat, cute posture, so how to raise succulent plants to look good? Let's take a look at the breeding methods of succulent plants and a few things that need to be paid attention to in the process of breeding.

Culture methods of succulent plants (basic knowledge):

The best breeding time: it should be propagated in spring and autumn.

The best growing soil should be a sandy loam with loose air permeability, good drainage, certain aggregate structure and can provide nutrients needed for plant growth.

Growth humidity requirements: the main growth period is in the cooler spring and autumn season, requiring a certain amount of air humidity.

The optimum growth temperature is 15: 28, and the plant tolerance limit is 5: 35.

The best growth light: the plants growing in semi-shade have thick and full leaves and high transparency, so a layer of shading net can be added from May to September, and the shading net should be removed from October to April of the following year to give full light.

Matters needing attention in cultivating succulent plants:

Fertilizer application: winter-type and intermediate-type plants are treated with mature dilute liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer every 20 days or so. Fertilizing time can be in the morning when the weather is clear, and be careful not to spill the fertilizer on the plant. Summer type species do not need to be fertilized.

Watering key points: in general, watering must be fully watered, so the soil must be often loosened to make the basin soil easily and evenly absorb enough water. For the growing winter-type and intermediate-type plants, the basin soil should be kept moist without stagnant water, and the watering should be dry and thorough, neither stagnant water nor too dry. The summer type can be watered properly, but not too much. If there is a rainy day or a sudden drop in temperature, stop watering.

Succulent plants themselves are basically made up of water. Plants that can store water by themselves can survive without much watering. On the contrary, if the water supply is too much, too much water can not be stored, it will cause rot and slowly wither. Therefore, when watering each time, we should pay attention to observe the state of the plant.

Pruning essentials: the pruning of succulent plants includes heart-picking, thinning, strong pruning, removal of residual flowers, buds, root pruning, etc., which is conducive to better growth.
