The Aquatic Seedling breeding Farm of Penghu County Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau released 15,000 self-bred "distant sea swimming crabs" (sand crabs) in the intertidal zone of Qingwan on the 19th. Lai Fengwei, head of Penghu County, said at the release that the release of sand crabs can enrich the fishery resources, and it is expected that the annual output value of sand crabs will be 40 million yuan in the future, and the fishing industry will be full of vitality.
County Mayor Lai Fengwei said that at present, Penghu has released about 300000 sand crab seedlings, with a survival rate of about 25%. It is expected to reach the listed size in one year, creating an output value of about 15 million yuan. In the future, it is estimated that it can create an output value of 40 million yuan in the form of industry-government-school cooperation. Sand crabs can become an indicator product of Penghu tourism industry.
Chen Jinghui, director of agriculture and fisheries of Penghu County, said that the seedling farm will further combine natural seaweed and seaweed bed resources to release more kinds of shrimp, crabs and snails. This year, the cultivation of crab seedlings will cooperate with the Fisheries Research Institute in the release of artificial sargassum reefs, and the mass production model of juvenile crabs has been successfully established. In the future, investigation and evaluation of release resources will continue to be carried out to enhance the release energy.
