Counties and municipal governments with suspected or confirmed cases are all ready. As of 11:00 on the 16th, the number of autumn march larvae has been confirmed. There have been 65 cases nationwide, and one new one in Taichung Qingshui District on the 16th, which is currently implemented.

Autumn march larvae have been found in various parts of Taiwan, and counties and municipal governments with suspected or confirmed cases are all ready. As of 11:00 on the 16th, 65 cases of autumn march larvae have been confirmed nationwide, and one new case was added in Taichung's Qingshui District on the 16th. At present, a total of 28 cases of destruction have been carried out. On the 15th, many places, such as Lucao Township in Chiayi, Checheng Town and Town in Pingtung, Magong Township in Penghu, Shuilin Township in Yunlin, and Zhubei City in Hsinchu County, assessed the environment and climate according to the standard treatment procedures of the Prevention and Inspection Bureau, carried out plant uprooting, burying, burning, and applying black fertilizer, and hung pheromone traps nearby for three months to ensure that there were no cases before farming. After the larvae were found in Mazu and Penghu, 4 and 2 autumn marching adults were trapped respectively, but no confirmed cases of adults have been reported on this island.

With regard to the development and promotion of pheromone traps by research institutions on the network, the Prevention and Inspection Bureau said that farmers are not encouraged to use them on their own at this stage, because a large number of prevention and control techniques that can be trapped and killed have not yet been developed. It is hoped that the research institutions will provide the research and development results to the Prevention and Inspection Bureau as a control strategy for the next stage. At present, it is still the golden period for the control of the first generation of larvae, and the Prevention and Inspection Bureau has set up more than 500 detection sites across the country to continuously observe whether there is any adult activity.

On the 15th, people in Checheng and rural areas reported that faeces and insect bodies suspected to be left by autumn army insects had been found in a cornfield covering an area of 1 hectares. after being initially confirmed by photos by agricultural improvement personnel in Kaohsiung District, Kaohsiung field personnel quickly accompanied the county government staff and local farmers' associations to re-identify the larvae of autumn worms, and the county government quickly deployed strange hands to dig down more than 3 meters of potholes, cover the soil, sprinkle black fertilizer and sprinkle water.

In addition to the cases reported in Lucao Township on the 12th, two cases of autumn army insects ravaging edible cornfields were found in Liujiao Township and Dongshi Township on the 12th and 14th, respectively, with a destruction area of 0.1248 hectares and 0.1ha, respectively. Aogu area in Dongshi Township belongs to the scope of wetlands and high groundwater level, plus the discovered fields are cornfields using organic farming methods. Therefore, the county government dug up the plants and collected them for on-site burning and ploughing, without spraying chemicals.

In Hualien County, which is engaged in organic agriculture accounting for nearly 40% of the country's total area, 3 of the 4 cases reported on the 14th were found in organic fields. Xu Zelwei, head of Hualien County, said a few days ago that considering that the production cost of organic crop planting was higher than that of the traditional agricultural law, he was worried that crop compensation would burden the county government expenditure, so it was hoped that the central government would increase the proportion of subsidy crop compensation funds. It has increased from 50% now to 80%.

In order to compensate farmers for their losses due to crop destruction and short-term inability to cultivate their farmland, the Council of Agriculture offered two pieces of compensation: crop destruction compensation valued by the local government and the cost of fallow for three months, of which the fallow compensation was paid by the Council of Agriculture for 45,000yuan per hectare. In the part of compensation for crop destruction, Article 12 of the Plant Disease Prevention and Quarantine Law points out that the evaluation committee organized by the competent authority of the municipality or county (city) directly under the Central Government will set the compensation price, which is mainly borne by the local government, but the central competent authority may subsidize it, and the subsidy method shall be determined by the central competent authority. At present, the Bureau of Prevention and Inspection only announces the reference basis for estimating the average crude income of crops for three years for reference by local valuation committees, including 19000 yuan per cent compensation for edible corn, 13000 yuan for fodder corn, and 6280 yuan for green corn cutting. there is no difference in compensation in accordance with farming methods.
