The method of measuring soil moisture of potted flowers is to press the basin soil with the index finger, and the 1cm below shows that the humidity of the basin soil is suitable. Move the flowerpot if it has become lighter, or use a wooden stick to make a clear sound at the edge of the pot to show that it needs to be watered. According to the biological characteristics of potted plants, different watering methods should be adopted for different plants. It is the most common watering method for potted flowers to send irrigation water directly into the basin to make the root system contact and absorb water first. There are several common watering methods for potted flowers: soaking pot method, spray pot spraying method, fine hole spraying method.

1. Soaking basin

It is mainly used for sowing and seedling raising and transplanting in pot stage. First sit the basin into the water, let the water slowly infiltrate from bottom to top along the bottom hole, until the surface of the basin soil is wet, and then take the basin out of the water. This method can not only make the soil absorb sufficient water, but also prevent the basin soil from hardening, and it will not wash out the seeds and seedlings because of direct watering. This method can be carried out every 2-3 days depending on the weather.

2. Spray water

This method sprinkles water evenly, is easy to control the amount of water, and can have a planned water supply according to the actual needs of the position. Sprinkle water with a spray pot for the first time until you see water seeping out of the basin bottom hole. Spraying water can not only reduce the temperature and increase the relative humidity of the air, but also clean the dust on the leaf surface and improve the photosynthetic efficiency of the plant.

3. Spray

The method of spraying water droplets into a fog on the leaf surface by using a fine-hole spray can. This method is beneficial to the increase of air humidity, can not only clean the dust on the leaves, but also prevent heat and cool down. It is an effective watering method for some cutting seedlings, new plants or tree stump bonsai. All-optical automatic spraying technology is an important method for large-scale seedling water supply.

Potted flowers can also implement some special water management methods, such as finding water, deducting water, pressing clear water, releasing water and so on. Finding water is supplementary watering, that is, individual water-deficient plants are irrigated separately, which is not limited by the normal watering time and times. Water release refers to the growth season combined with topdressing to increase the amount of water to meet the needs of branch and leaf growth. Buckling water, that is, suspending watering at a certain stage of plant growth, carrying out drought exercise or appropriately reducing watering times and watering, such as "squatting seedlings" at seedling stage, are often used when root pruning wounds have not yet healed, flower bud differentiation stage and before and after entering the greenhouse. Pressed clear water is watering after potted plants are fertilized, which requires a large amount of water and needs to be watered thoroughly, because only with a large amount of water can the local overconcentrated soil solution be diluted and the fertilizer can be evenly distributed in the soil. the phenomenon of "burning roots" will not occur because the local fertilizer is too thick.
