There are two kinds of common gentleman orchids in our country: laughing gentleman orchid and big flower gentleman orchid. The leaves, flowers and fruits of the orchid are all beautiful, but the ornamental nature of the leaves is the main highlight, so how to select the orchids should distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of the varieties from the leaves.

1) the leaves are generally short, wide, thick and bright.

2) the leaf is erect, the leaf width is more than 9 × 10 cm, and the ratio of leaf length to width is more than 3 times. The leaves should be thick and masculine, with a thickness of 2 to 2.5 mm. The color of the leaves is dark green, light green and oil green, followed by dark green; in terms of glossiness, there are bright, oil, dark and no light, and the brighter the better.

3) the leaf shape takes the round and obtuse shape of the leaf tip as the top grade, and the long tip of the leaf tip as the middle grade. The green veins of the leaves are green veins, and the veins protruding from all the warp and weft lines are high-grade varieties, followed by flat veins and hidden veins.

In addition to looking at the leaves, you can also see that the pedicels are thick and round, the flowers are large and many, and the flowers are red. In the selection and purchase of Cymbidium seedlings, the first batch of seedlings unearthed with the same variety and sown at the same time, that is, the so-called "potted seedlings", have stronger growth potential and are good seedlings. Then choose the seedlings with luxuriant leaves, thick fleshy roots and tender green, and the seedlings with slender roots are better. If the seedlings have grown 3 leaves, the advantages and disadvantages can be determined according to the above leaf characteristics. Whether there are folds in the leaves and the size of the plant shape are not the criteria to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of Cymbidium.

In winter, the magnolia should be moved to the room sitting north to south to receive light. Gentleman orchid should always maintain 60% environmental humidity, should often spray water to its leaves, generally spray once a day. And often wipe the dust off the leaves with a wet cloth to keep it clean. This can increase the luster of the leaves, be conducive to growth and prevent the occurrence of diseases and insect pests. The dirt and moss on the basin wall should also be brushed clean in order to keep the gentleman orchid growing vigorously. The gentleman orchid enters the dormant period in winter, should control the moisture, as long as does not make the soil too dry, does not need to fertilize. The indoor temperature reaches 6 ℃ ~ 7 ℃, which can survive the winter safely.
