After months of nurturing by the sea, the plump oysters began to be harvested in Chiayi cloth bags and Dongshi, while the harvest in Tainan is coming to an end. At present, the land prices in Tainan and Chiayi are not much different from those in previous years, about NT $110 to NT $130 per kilogram. However, this year, some oysters in Tainan are smaller than in previous years, and people who like to eat oysters can wait for the harvest from other producing areas.

Tsai Shang-hang, the offshore management team of the Tainan fishing Port and Offshore Management Institute, said a few days ago that due to the climate, the harvest this year is generally later than in previous years, but because of the continuous stocking of oysters, they may not necessarily continue to grow up, and some fishermen will look at the climate and the market price for the harvest, and some will be smaller. Tainan production area includes Annan, Anping and Southern District, with a total of 9,000 racks, with an average annual output of about 5.7 tons.

Due to the stocking time in November and December last year, Budai Town and Dongshi Township in Chiayi County, another major producing area in China, began harvesting at the end of May and received August all the way. Chen Hongcong, director of the fishing Association of Chiayi District, explained that the current production season has just begun. the land price is about 130 yuan per kilogram, depending on whether there will be any typhoons in the next two months, because the shelves in this producing area are still mainly in the form of floating raft, if the stocking area is in the open sea. It will be greatly affected by the weather, while the areas near the inland sea and the outer umbrella top continent will have a relatively small impact.

Chen Hongcong added that there are about 9,000 floating raft racks in the Chiayi production area, and there are also 780 hectares of flat-mounted pontoon production areas, but because the flat-hanging type is cultivated on shoals and replenished by tides, it takes a relatively long time and takes nearly a year. Some farmers will move the pontoon to the floating raft area after six months to increase the growth rate, but the harvest time will still be a little later than floating raft farming.

Domestic oysters are still cultured in the form of floating rafts, which will be destroyed every typhoon season, leading to disputes over the pollution of floating polylone fragments. Chen Hongcong said that usually the farmers will outsource a piece of canvas in Poly Lilong, so that Pao Lilong will not crack because of long-term exposure, but even bamboo racks will be destroyed when typhoons come, let alone floating tools, although I have heard that there are alternative materials. However, Pao Lilong is still a relatively easy material for farmers to obtain. Now the Chiayi County government has a recycling mechanism for sheds, and it is hoped that the government can also provide alternative options for farmers to use as soon as possible.
