Pruning and binding techniques of Plum Blossom Bonsai
Bonsai production requires certain skills and experience. If you want to create a bonsai with strong ornamental value, you can't do it without five or six years of cultivation and modeling skills. The two key techniques in bonsai modeling are pruning and binding.
Pruning skills:
Some early woody flowers with flowers before leaves usually form their buds in summer and autumn last year. If they are pruned before sprouting in early spring, they will cut off the branches or touch the buds. Therefore, pruning should be carried out within 1 to 2 weeks after anthesis. But at this time, the flowers and trees have begun to grow, the sap flow is exuberant, and the amount of pruning should not be too large. Plum blossom is one of these flowers and trees, which should be pruned within 1 to 2 weeks after flower fade.
The germination and branching ability of leaf buds of plum blossom are strong. Flower branches can be divided into short, medium and long branches according to their length. The flowering rate of middle branches less than 20 cm is the highest, and short branches about 2 cm long can also be developed. Long branches over 30 cm have fewer flowers, and only a few flowers grow at the apex. The flower buds of plum blossoms are mostly on the new branches of the same year, and there are often hidden buds on the old plum branches that can blossom as short branches. The main branch of plum blossom grows vigorously and is not easy to produce flower buds, so it is appropriate to cut short the long branches to promote the occurrence of lateral short branches in the same year, waiting for the formation of flower buds in summer and autumn.
In addition, cut off useless long branches and weak branches, disease and insect branches. Plum blossom is a light-loving plant, while pruning, try to cut off overlapping and obscured branches, so that they can fully accept the light, so that leaves and flowers can flourish.
Binding skills:
The new branches of plum blossom are easy to grow upward and naturally. In order to ensure the beautiful shape of the tree, it is necessary to tie it with rope in time to make it bend before and after, left and right, or up and down according to people's wishes. The shape of plum blossoms strives to be real and natural, such as bending upward, generally no more than three bends. In pruning, it is best to combine pruning and binding, so as to make plum blossoms form an ancient and graceful posture as soon as possible.

The processing and modeling method of bonsai tree embryo
Saplings cultivated from an early age usually begin to process and shape after 3 to 5 years, while stumps excavated in the mountains can be processed and modeled after a year of embryo cultivation. Before processing, the tree embryos planted on the ground can be dug up and temporarily planted in pots of suitable size for operation and modeling. Large tree embryos can also be processed and modeled in situ.
