Watering skills of Yingshanhong bonsai
Generally speaking, it should be flexibly mastered according to the season, weather conditions, plant size, dry and wet soil, growth and development. When the temperature drops in winter, the cuckoo grows slowly and needs less water, so the amount of water should be reduced appropriately; when the temperature rises in spring, the cuckoo blossoms and shoots, and the water demand increases; in the high temperature season in summer, water should be sprayed on the ground and leaves at noon and evening to cool and humidify; when the weather turns cool in autumn, watering should be reduced to prevent secondary growth, which is beneficial to overwintering.
After entering the basin, after a year of careful care, the prototype of the bonsai has emerged, but the branches and leaves are not yet full and need further care, so watering is the key to determine the rise and fall of the bonsai, especially on a sunny day under the scorching sun. pay more attention to the basin soil water and foliar spray, but also according to climate change and watering.
When watering, we should pay attention to the size of the pot and the number of branches and leaves of the stump to determine the use of water, and in the hot summer season, we should pour more water to lower the temperature and increase the humidity in the basin, but in the high temperature season above 35 degrees Celsius, we cannot spray water on the leaves during the day, otherwise it will lead to stagnant water in the leaves under the hot sun, boil quickly and burn the leaves.
Only in the twilight when the sun is setting, can we spray the branches and leaves and restore our original spirit quickly. If you overwater, you should also make the leaves yellow. in short, watering is the key, which can only accumulate experience in long-term practice.
Water rhododendron root system is shallow and developed, roots as thin as hair, very sensitive to water, afraid of drought and waterlogging. It is generally required that the soil water holding capacity is not less than 18%, but if there is water in the basin, it will also show rotten roots and die, so how much water is the key to raising azaleas.
From the growth and development point of view, the vegetative growth stage of water demand, flower bud formation stage should be less watering, more watering will make branches and leaves grow, flower buds reduced. It is not easy to water more after the flower bud is formed, in case the top of the flower bud opens and does not bloom the following year. Neutral or slightly acidic Rain Water, river and pond water are the best for watering. If tap water is used, it is best to store it in a tank for 1 to 2 days and wait for chlorine to evaporate before use.
Temporary watering will reduce the acidity of the soil, so 0.2% ferrous sulfate can be added during watering, once every 5 days. Or add a little vinegar and water it every half a month to make sure the soil is slightly acidic.
