Looking through bonsai magazines and bonsai monographs, it is true that there are many fine bonsai products of pine trees, but most of them are short, sturdy, and boxing. Tall and dry, the performance of the pine tree towering, tall and straight, majestic is as few as the morning star. As a tall and magnificent image, it seems unfair that the bonsai has not been promoted. Blindly pursue low, stocky, dense, which is not consistent with the natural environment of the pine tree, but also not commensurate with the style of the pine tree. Therefore, the author conceives that in the modeling of pine bonsai, the use of high-dry pine bonsai to fully reflect the character of pine, promote the spirit of pine.

I. selection of tree stumps

Higher than the pine bonsai, refers to the dry body tall, vertical or slightly curved slightly oblique pine bonsai. The high-stem pine bonsai here is different from the literati bonsai. Black pine, red pine and Masson pine are ideal materials for bonsai of high-dry pine trees, because their dry bodies are highly armored, rugged and ancient, with green needles, which meet the modeling requirements.

Choose this kind of pile tree, to choose the height of the stem below the 120cm, the upper part of the multi-branch, the dry body of less than 2/3 does not need to have branches. The ratio of pile diameter to dry body should be coordinated, and the dry diameter should be controlled from 5cm to 10cm. In the selection of piles, according to the specific phase of the pile, the upper branches of the pile can be processed to replace the dry pile, which is also a good material.

Select high trunk pine stump and choose others. The locations of miscellaneous tree stumps are different. For other miscellaneous wood stumps, there are many strange and strange stumps by the roadside, by the cliff, and where people and animals can easily go. High-stem pine stakes have to go to the top of the mountain or the forest to choose, the top of the mountain, high altitude, cold and windy weather, vulnerable to wind, frost, lightning and other natural disasters, so that the overall image of the pile is low, straight and dense, and it is easy to find the ideal pile material. The shape of high-stem pine bonsai should fully reflect the towering beauty, tall and straight beauty and ancient beauty of the stump, show its clank and upright spirit, and show its struggle and upward momentum.

As far as the bonsai of high-dry pine trees are concerned, there should not be too many branches. Generally, 5 branches will suffice. Leave too much looks bloated, lack of backbone. Branches should be left in more than 2/3 of the trunk, low, do not show the trend of towering, majestic. According to the need, but also consider embellishing "Shili" or "Shenzhi" to increase the effect.

To reflect the exuberant growth, tall and straight trunk, dense needles of high-stem pine trees, we should consider to make its needles dense, form a large cloud shape, and the branches should be spread out. In order to increase the sense of motion, either side of the left and right branches should be stretched as far as possible, and the other side should be "tightened" to show its tall, straight and magnificent side as far as possible.

The pine phase on the top of the mountain, because it is eroded by the harsh natural environment, the dry body is vertical or slightly oblique, the distance between branches is short, the technical strips should droop slightly, and the needles form small cloud flakes and sparse, so "Shili" or "magic skills" should be designed to embellish them.
