Matters needing attention in planting watercress
Watercress, also known as watercress, is a perennial aquatic herb in the genus Cruciferae. It is a market with health care. It not only plays a very good role in health care, but also tastes very good. So what should we pay attention to when planting watercress artificially? Let's take a look.
1. Temperature
The most suitable growth temperature of watercress is between 15 and 25 degrees, with rapid growth at about 20 degrees and good quality of stems and leaves. The growth of temperature above 30 degrees will be inhibited and diseases will occur easily. Stems and leaves below 10 degrees will be red, poor quality, in addition, we should pay attention to keep the water depth of about 5-7 cm when planting, the water level is too deep to cause overgrowth, adventitious roots are too many, stems and leaves are yellowish, sowing because of soil oxygen content, and adventitious roots consume too much nutrients. Shallow water stem is easy to aging, because the water temperature is easy to be too high and the air humidity is relatively low.
2. Lighting
Watercress is a kind of light-loving crop with insufficient light or over-dense planting, weak growth of stems and leaves, less accumulation of nutrients in stems and leaves, and decline in yield and quality. Therefore, when planting, we must choose the land with sufficient light to plant, the planting density should not be too dense, so as not to close the field, resulting in thin stems and leaves, less nutrition accumulation, resulting in a greater impact on income.
3. Fertilizer
Watercress is fond of fertilizer, especially nitrogen, and has certain requirements for base fertilizer, so 1500 kg of rotten farm manure or 3500 kg of manure are generally applied in the base fertilizer. And fertilizer should be applied in time for each harvest, such as wet manure or urea diluent, during the growing period, when the sun is relatively weak, foliar fertilizer is sprayed 2-3 times and 0.5 urea solution is added, which will make it grow fast, have good quality and high yield.
4. Disease prevention
Watercress shows strong resistance in the whole process, but it is inevitable that some pests will damage its leaves. Common pests are diamondback moth, aphids or yellow striped beetles, which will cause certain damage to leaves, so growers are required to treat them in time, observe the occurrence of insect pests and spray pesticides to control them.
The above is the introduction of watercress planting precautions. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about it, please follow us.
