Phoenix wood, alias Fenghuanghua, Huoshu, Leguminosae. Phoenix wood, as an excellent garden ornamental tree and street tree species, is widely planted in the south. Its beautiful branches and leaves, clusters of safflower, dazzling, loved by local landscaping departments. For this reason, we observed the growth law of Phoenix wood, and summarized its sowing and propagation techniques as follows.

Phoenix wood is generally sown and propagated. After the fruit is ripe and collected in the sun, the pod will split naturally, or hit with a stick, and the seed will fall off. The weight of 1000 seeds is 480-520g. The seeds are stored in a dry, cool and ventilated place in gunny bags, the vitality is preserved for more than 1 year, and the seed coat is dense and hard.

Before sowing, the seeds were soaked in 80 ℃ hot water twice as much as the seed volume for 24 hours (natural cooling), then washed with clean water, then soaked in 50 ℃ hot water for 24 hours, washed, sowed on the seedling bed, covered with soil at 0.5-1cm, paid attention to heat preservation, drenched once in the morning and evening, and began to germinate in about 7-10 days. The seedlings were divided into different beds when the seedlings were as high as 8-10cm, and some branches and leaves were trimmed when the seedlings were divided into beds. Seedlings are sensitive to frost, compound fertilizer can be applied in the early stage, less nitrogen fertilizer can be applied, and fertilization should be stopped after autumn. In winter, if the leaves have not yet fallen off, they can be cut off manually and covered with film or covered with a single plant to prevent frost.

two。 Preparation and methods before sowing

1. Preparation of seedbed

The seedbed should choose flat terrain, convenient transportation, sufficient sunshine, good ventilation, conducive to drainage and irrigation, loose, fertile sandy loam as the seedbed. Calcium superphosphate 100kg and 0.5 kg 70% methyl topiramate powder should be applied per 667m2. The fine soil was formed by pear rake, and the calcium superphosphate fertilizer and methyl thiophanate were evenly mixed with the soil, and then the border was made to level the border surface to make the bed surface fine and loose.

2. Seed collection

The 10-year-old and 20-year-old healthy plants should be selected for seed collection from late October to mid-December every year. Choose no wind and sunny weather, go up the tree to harvest or hit with a bamboo pole, because the pods are lignified, you can place the pods in the hot sun and break the pods with sticks, take out the seeds, and place them in a ventilated, dry, cool place to dry. The mass of 1000 seeds of Phoenix wood is about 450g and 550g.

3. Seed treatment

The seed shell of Phoenix wood seed is hard and is not easy to absorb water. After rinsing the seed with clean water and soaking it in 60-70 warm water for 12 hours, the seed can be sowed after fully absorbing water and expanding.

4. Sowing method

The method of sowing is generally strip sowing or bag sowing. The best sowing time is from late March to mid-April. The suitable row spacing of strip sowing plant is 10cm / 10cm, the thickness of soil cover is 1~1.5cm after sowing, cover with straw, keep the seedbed moist and prevent the growth of weeds and drench enough water. Generally, about 20, 000 seedlings can be sowed per 667m2; bag sowing is neatly discharged in nursery beds or nurseries where nutritious soil has been prepared, and a stick with a diameter of 1cm is inserted into the hole of 1~2cm in the middle of the bag and compacted with soil, watered thoroughly and shaded properly. It began to germinate 4-6 days after sowing, and the germination rate was more than 90%.
