Li Shuzhen, director general of Taiping Peasant Association, Lin Zhangji, chairman of Taiping Peasant Association, and Chen Zhanqun, Executive Supervisor, said at the presentation that litchi is an important economic fruit tree in the area of Taiping Peasants Association, covering an area of about 500-600 hectares, mainly black leaf varieties, and the short production period is concentrated in June. During this period, Taiwan litchi faces the market pressure of oversupply year after year. Therefore, under the guidance of the Taichung municipal government, the farmers' association actively seeks to diversify its varieties. Effective methods to stagger the production period and prolong the fruit supply period, in order to stabilize farmers' profits as the primary goal of industrial development.

Zhang Longren, deputy director of the Bureau of Agriculture, said that after many years of field visits to the Fengshan Branch of the Agricultural Experimental Institute to observe the technical achievements of litchi breeding and cultivation, it was confirmed that variety renewal was the only way to recreate business opportunities.

Dr. Deng Yongxing, who developed a new variety of litchi, said that it was only after 10 years of research and development that Jili was successful. In 1998, the Agricultural Experimental Institute launched the Tainong No. 4 Jili exclusive authorization project, and the Taiping Peasant Association won the support of the Agricultural Laboratory and the Council of Agriculture. The Peasants' Association successfully obtained the exclusive authorization with a life limit of 25 years.

In 1999, a variety mother tree park was established in the orchard of Taiping fruit growers and Chen Pinghe, former chairman of Taiping Farmers' Association, and held many lectures and on-site breeding skills training. During the four years after the authorization, Tainong No. 4 litchi has stable horticultural characteristics, including flowering every other year, high yield, 20 tons per hectare, a cluster of one jin, and a huge fruit shape (a single fruit weighs more than 50 grams). It is three times the size of ordinary litchi, with Q pulp and red peel color. In the past three years, the exhibition at the Lizhu Taiping event and the trial sale in the market have been highly appraised.

In order to share this achievement with friends in the litchi industry, the Taiping Peasants' Association carefully planned the publication and viewing of the variety renewal results on the 4th, hoping to plan Tainong 4 to take the Taiping area as the center. Develop into a dazzling and bright star of the litchi industry in central China, and look forward to jointly safeguarding this hard-won variety right, so that farmers cultivated in the future can co-exist and create new prospects for the industry.
