Preparation of flower seeds before sowing
Family flowers should be sown in pots. It is best to use a kind of flowerpot called "seedling shallow" as a container. It is a kind of clay pot specially fired for flower seeding in pot kiln. The diameter of the upper opening is 30~32 cm, the height of the pot is only 8~10 cm, the inner diameter of the bottom of the pot is similar to that of the upper opening, and the bottom of the pot has 4 drainage holes.
Can also use ordinary clay pot or sand pot sowing, but because the pot body is deeper, the soil temperature does not come for a while, the seed germination is unfavorable, and the seedlings are more difficult. Some people use small wooden boxes to do seeding containers, which can maintain relatively constant soil temperature, but the seeds that germinate slowly cannot emerge for a while after sowing in wooden boxes, and the wooden boxes are easy to mold and infect seeds or flower seedlings for a long time.
Before sowing, wash the "seedling shallow" first, dry it fully in the sun, pad the drainage hole of the basin bottom with 4 broken tiles, spread a layer of 1.5 cm thick large grain river sand as a favorable layer, then load the human face sand or the old basin soil after sunlight disinfection, smooth the soil with small wood chips, and leave a 3 cm high edge above.
After the basin soil is installed, put the bottom of the "seedling shallow" on the water surface of a large basin, let the clear water slowly seep into the basin from the bottom hole of the "seedling shallow", and immediately lift the "seedling shallow" from the water after the surface of the basin soil is wet, ready for planting. This water supply method is called "basin bottom water supply method", which can prevent the soil surface from being washed into small pits by watering with a watering can.
1. Nursery pots
It is recommended to use hole pots or nursery pots for seedlings, not to sow them directly in the ground. Sowing directly in the field, the soil spread more diseases and insect pests, the ground temperature is low, the moisture and humidity are difficult to control, affecting the germination rate. Pots also facilitate statistics germination rate.
2. Seedling substrate
Seedling substrate requirements of loose soil, good permeability, water and fertilizer conservation, clean and disease-free, good fertility. Commonly used substrates are peat soil, coconut bran, pearlite, vermiculite, generally mixed use. For example, peat soil 85%+ pearlite 10%+ vermiculite 5%. Peat should not be too fine, pearlite particle diameter 3-4 mm, vermiculite particle diameter 3-5 mm is ideal. Some fertilizers can be added to the matrix. Most seeds germinated well on substrates with pH values of 5.5-5.8, but a bunch of red, geranium, marigold and peacock required pH values of 6.2-6.5.
3. Fill the basin
Mix the matrix evenly and then put it into the basin. The matrix does not need to be compacted during the basin filling process. It can be gently leveled, otherwise the physical properties of the matrix will be changed and the permeability of the matrix will be reduced.
4. Watering
Pour bottom water with fine nozzle, the size of water drops should not impact the soil surface and keep the soil surface flat. After watering, irrigate again with fungicidal agent, commonly used agent is chlorothalonil.
5. Soaking seeds
Proper seed soaking can promote germination and improve germination rate. Soft thin seed coat can be soaked in cold water, thick seed coat can be soaked in warm water or hot water, very small seeds can not be soaked. For example, sweet pea, black-eyed Susan pre-soaking overnight can improve germination rate, so that germination faster. Seeds can be soaked in water for 2-3 hours before sowing to speed up emergence.

Steps to sow seeds for flowers
The seeds of different flowers are different, because of their different light-loving nature. Some small seeds do not need to be covered with soil, while some larger seeds need to be covered with soil. Generally speaking, small seeds are generally light-loving, do not cover the soil, large seeds hate light, seeds should be covered with soil, cover the seeds
