Red string cultivation is also very common in the world, especially in Europe and the United States and Japan, is a very important flower. Goldsmith seed Company of the United States, French Company of Italy, Bodger of France and Floranova of the United Kingdom, etc., sell a string of red seeds every year. At the same time, new varieties are constantly on the market, especially the dwarf potted varieties are updated very quickly.

Probably because its florescence is really long, from July to November, it has been a bright red string, and the inflorescence is slender and planted in pieces, which is very spectacular. So this plant native to Brazil has become the most commonly cultivated herbaceous flower in gardens. Of course, another reason is that it is easy to maintain, after sowing, it does not need too much management, as long as the sun is passable, not too strong or too weak, it will drive very well.

1. Sowing method

In the middle of March, the seedlings were sown in seedling pots or hole plates in the greenhouse, and the substrate was made of nutritious soil or screened vermiculite. if the seedling substrate was used repeatedly, it was sterilized with 5 ‰ potassium permanganate. Soak the seeds in about 40 ℃ of warm water for one day and night before sowing, then rinse with clean water and mix with fine sand. The seeds were sowed evenly after compaction and leveling of the seedling substrate, and the row spacing was 2 cm × 2 cm. The seeds were covered with sand after sowing, and the soaking pot method was used to increase moisture, cover glass, place in shade place and maintain a certain humidity. Before the seeds germinate, always check the dry and wet condition of the substrate, cover the glass during the day and lift it at night to make it ventilated and ventilated. The optimum temperature for seed germination was 21: 24 ℃, and the seedlings appeared at 12: 15 days. After the seeds germinate and emerge, remove the glass and move it to the sun to control moisture and shade properly to prevent overgrowth. In order to ensure the humidity of the substrate, it must be sprayed with a fine-eye spray can, not watered with heavy water to prevent the seedlings from being washed down. After the appearance of true leaves, apply light fertilizer and water once. Sowing seedlings in the open field seedling bed should be carried out in time, and water should be sprinkled at the right time.

The florescence can be controlled by adjusting the sowing date. The sowing time can be determined according to the required flowering period. if you want to blossom on May Day, you can sow seeds in the middle and last ten days of August of the previous year, spend the winter in the greenhouse, and come out at the end of April the following year. If you want the National Day holiday to blossom, you can sow seeds in the greenhouse in the middle of March of that year.

2. Cutting method

Cutting propagation can be carried out in the open field from June to July and in the greenhouse in October. Cuttings in the open field need shading. Cuttings in greenhouse should keep room temperature between 20 and 25 ℃. General cutting seedlings, as long as keep the soil moist, after 20 days can take root, a month can be on the pot or planted in the open field.
