Breeding methods of petunia
Morning glory belongs to the family Convolvulaceae, which originates in tropical Asia and southern China. It has a nickname, trumpet flower, and belongs to annual trailing herbaceous flowers. Morning glory is a poisonous plant, stems, leaves and flowers are toxic, especially seeds are the most toxic. Overdose can cause vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloody stool and hematuria. And Petunia, which belongs to the genus Petunia of Solanaceae, also known as Bidong eggplant and Ganoderma lucidum peony, originated in South America!
There are many varieties of petunia, you may have heard of "millions of small bell", in addition, "pink morning light", "small flower net vein", "light wave", and so on, are very popular varieties. I still remember that several flower friends once sent me pictures showing the blooming scenes of all kinds of petunia in my family, which was really beautiful!
The main breeding methods of petunia are as follows:
1. Sowing and reproduction
Petunia is often cultivated once a year. The sowing time depends on the time on the market. If it needs to be spent in May, it should be sown in the greenhouse in January. Flowers in October need to be sown in July. The sowing time should also be adjusted according to different varieties. The seeds of Petunia are small, with 9000-10000 seeds per gram and the optimum temperature for germination is 20-22 ℃. The seeds are sown in pot and sterilized with high temperature culture soil, rotten leaf soil and fine sand mixed soil. There is no need to cover the soil after sowing, just press it gently and germinate in about 10 days. When true leaves appear, the suitable room temperature is 13-15 ℃.
2. Cuttage propagation
Indoor cultivation can be carried out all the year round. After anthesis, the germinated tip shoots are cut and 10 cm long, inserted into the sand bed, the soil temperature is 20-25 ℃, rooting takes place 15-20 days after planting, and can be transplanted into the pot in 30 days.
3. Tissue culture propagation
Explants use seeds, leaves and sperm-receiving rooms. If you use seeds, soak in detergent solution for 5 minutes, remove and rinse with water. Under aseptic condition, soak in 75% alcohol for 8 minutes, then soak in 0.1% mercuric chloride solution for 7 minutes, rinse with sterile water, inoculate on the medium of MS (adding 6-benzylaminopurine 0.5mg / L and naphthylacetic acid 0.1mg / L), the buds appear after 15 days, and the buds are cut into the original medium for subculture. After 20 days, more than 10 buds could be obtained from one small bud. The strong buds of 1 cm were cultured on 1/2MS medium containing 0.05mg / L naphthalene acetic acid and 0.2mg / L naphthalene acetic acid. After 10 days, 100% rooting became complete plantlets.
