Calendula, also known as marigold, whose yellow flowers are very eye-catching, are holy flowers in the eyes of Indians. They are often made into a wreath and hung around their necks. These beautiful yellow, orange and golden flowers can be seen everywhere in Indian flower markets.

Calendula is very hardy and barren, and can blossom throughout winter until early spring. compared with other flowers in winter, the golden yellow of calendula is the most warm and warm color in winter. The marigold is used to put flowers in the flower beds for festivals. It is also suitable for potted plants. Its beautiful flowers are favored by people. So, how can such beautiful flowers be sown? The following editor introduces the sowing method of potted calendula.

1. Soil selection

Because marigold is more tolerant to barren, it does not have high requirements for soil. It can grow well not only in dry soil, but also in fertile and loose alkaline soil. Therefore, it is suggested that when sowing calendula, it is better to choose a fertile, loose and slightly acidic substrate.

2. Sowing time

The sowing time of calendula can be chosen in autumn, of course, the prepared substrate needs to be disinfected in advance before sowing, and it can be put into the pan to stir-fry, which can kill bugs and eggs.

3. Seed germination

Sprouting is a step that many plants need to carry out before sowing, and calendula is no exception. For the sowing of calendula, the seeds can be soaked in warm water of more than 20 degrees for 5-6 hours until the seeds are swollen.

4. Sowing process

After we have arranged the soil and the seeds have been germinated, we can sow the seeds. You can put on gloves and sow seeds directly by hand, while seeds that are too small to be picked up by hand can be sown by soaking toothpicks and sticking seeds. After sowing, cover the soil at a depth of about 1 cm, and then germinate by pot soaking. The method is: put the seeded flowerpot into the water gently, the depth of the water is half or 2/3 of the height of the flowerpot, let the water soak up slowly.

5. Post-seed management

1) Thermal insulation and moisturizing: since we sow in autumn, it is inevitable that a cold wave will come. At this time, we can wrap the whole flowerpot with plastic film, which is not only convenient for heat preservation, but also conducive to moisturizing.

2) proper lighting: when the seedlings break through the soil, we need to remove the film used for heat preservation and moisture preservation in time, and give it proper light before 09:30 or after 03:30 every day, otherwise the seedlings will grow very weak.

3) Interseedling treatment: when most of the seeds sprout, we need to treat them in time by pulling out the diseased and weak seedlings to give the remaining seedlings a wider growth space; when most of the seedlings take root and sprout multiple leaves, we can transplant them in the pot.
