Techniques of cuttage hydroponics of Daphne odora

Ruixiang is full of vitality all the year round, with luxuriant branches and leaves, and it is even more fragrant and pleasant when the flowers bloom. If you plant potted plants at home, it gives people the feeling of spring all over the eyes. It is a kind of precious potted flowers and plants. The planting of Daphne odora mainly obtains young plants through cutting propagation, and cutting is also divided into soil cutting and water cutting. Today, the editor will introduce the hydroponics techniques of Ruixiang cuttings, hoping to be helpful to you.

1. Material selection preparation

Before hydroponic culture of Daphne odorifera, we must first prepare a container with more space for the cuttings, so that there will be enough oxygen and it will be more conducive to the rooting of cuttings. If you need long-term aquaculture, you can prepare a fine glassware for it and wait for the cuttings to take root and sprout. Of course, in addition to that, we also need to prepare plastic foam boards, clean pebbles and loose soil.

2. Cutting cuttings

For cuttings used in hydroponic culture, it is recommended to cut sturdy and semi-lignified branches of the year to ensure that the cuttings are 6-8 cm long and that the top 1-2 leaves need to be retained. The day before the insertion, you can draw a circle around the incision to make the wound heal faster and better.

3. Time of hydroponic culture

The hydroponic culture of Daphne odora can be done all the year round, but the highest survival rate is in summer, mostly in July, when the cuttings are more mature and it is easier to take root after cutting.

4. Operation method

Step 1: cut a hole in the base of the branch in the middle and separate the two halves with pebbles or other things.

Step 2: soak the cuttings in disinfectant for about 10 minutes, then take them out.

Step 3: insert some holes of appropriate size in the plastic foam according to the thickness of the base of the cuttings, and then insert most of the branches into the holes, exposing a length of about 3-4 cm below the cuttings.

Step 4: put the plastic foam together with the cuttings in a container full of water, the base of the cuttings should be able to touch the water in the container, and then put it in the sunny place indoors.

5. Maintenance and management

In the daily maintenance process to frequently change the container water, about 2-3 days need to change the water. You can use mineral water, clean river water, or tap water that you can rest for a few days. When changing water, if you find moss or other sticky substances growing on the inner wall of the container, you need to clean it up. At the same time, it is easy to disinfect and sterilize with potassium permanganate before you can replace it with clean water.

If you encounter high temperature in summer, you should replenish water to the container in time, and spray water to the ground around the container to achieve the moisturizing effect. As long as the temperature is kept between 22 and 28 ℃, it will take at most 2 months to take root and make the plant survive smoothly.
