Fig has high edible and medicinal value, and has a certain ornamental, in addition to planting, but also can be potted planting, and even made into bonsai for appreciation. To pot figs, first of all to solve the problem of the source of seedlings. Fig seedlings can be obtained by cutting, rationing and layering.

Potted fig is planted by cuttage technology, which is simple and fast, and can keep the characteristics of mother plant. So, how exactly do potted figs grow? Today, Xiaobian will talk about fig cutting technology for everyone.

1. Choose a flowerpot

Because it is cuttage propagation, it is recommended to choose a flowerpot with a diameter of more than 20 cm. The flowerpot should be a well-ventilated clay pot or earthen pot. This kind of bowl body is rough, cheap, easy to use, and more importantly, has good air and water permeability.

2. Preparation of matrix

Fig cuttings substrate to clean the river sand is appropriate, of course, when adding some soil with humus better. However, before use, the two should be mixed evenly and then placed in the sun for exposure before use, in order to achieve the role of sterilization.

3. Cutting time

Fig cuttings should be carried out between March and May before the mother plant expands its branches and leaves.

4. Cutting cuttings

We can cut strong branches from the parent tree as cuttings, but we need to keep more than 2 nodes when pruning, and then make a section of 20 cm long. Then soak them in sun-drenched tap water and wash them with a fine brush.

5. Cutting process

Once the preparations are in place, we can begin cutting.

1) Insert the soaked cuttings evenly into the pot soil. For flowerpots with a diameter of 20 cm, insert 4-5 root cuttings evenly.

2) The part inserted into the culture soil and the part exposed to the soil surface retain at least one node each. After compacting the surface of the basin, lay a layer of sand about 1 cm thick and pour water once.

3) Bend the iron wire into an arch and put it on the basin as a support. Then spread a layer of transparent plastic film on the iron wire and let it tighten. Then tighten the plastic film at the mouth of the basin. Finally, several small holes of moderate size are separated from the upper part of the plastic film to achieve the purpose of ventilation.

4) After doing the above operations, place the flowerpot in a place where the window can receive light for maintenance. Pay attention to the dry and wet state of the soil in the basin at ordinary times, and replenish water properly to ensure that the soil in the basin remains wet.

5) Wait until most of the cuttings grow 4-5 leaves, then we need to remove the plastic film that was previously covered for seedling training. After about 2 weeks, the tender leaves of the cuttings will gradually darken in color, and then they can be transplanted into pots.
