Crane orchid, it also has another name-the flower of birds of paradise. Its name not only sounds elegant, but also full of poetry, it is not difficult to imagine its noble and elegant atmosphere. It is said that when it was first introduced into England, people were attracted by its dignified and gorgeous pride as soon as they saw this kind of flower, so it was called an unspeakable flower.

In the previous article "when does the orchid blossom", the editor explained that the flowering of the orchid throughout the year can be achieved by ramet, so how to split the orchid?

1. Mother plant selection

In order to cultivate more high-quality orchid plants by ramet, we must choose strong adult plants with many tillers, neat leaves and no diseases and insect pests as mother plants. This kind of mother plant usually grows for more than 3 years and has more than 4 bud points and no less than 16 leaves.

2. Ramet time

The time for breeding young plants from the mother plant should be completed during the period from May to June. The plant cultivated in this period of time is more conducive to survival and plant shape is more ornamental.

3. Ramet method

In addition to cuttage, the ramet can also be used to cultivate young plants, and the ramet method is more common. So, how do you split the orchid? Next, I would like to introduce the ramet release of Clematis paniculata.

Hewang Lando adopted the method of not retaining the mother plant, that is, the whole plant was dug out for ramet. When digging plants, take as many roots as possible to avoid harming important branches and leaves on the mother plant.

When digging, first carefully dig up the topsoil with your hands, then remove part of the persistent soil that adheres to the roots, and then remove the old leaves below. When you can clearly distinguish the root system and the gap between buds and buds to stop vomiting, and then according to the size of the plant, properly select the cutting point under the condition that each seedling has 2-3 bud points, and then use a sharp blade to divide the mother plant into several clusters from the joint of these rhizomes.

In the process of ramet, we should reduce the damage to the root system as much as possible, which is more conducive to the survival of ramet seedlings. After dividing the seedling from the mother plant, we need to smear the wound with plant ash to achieve the effect of disinfection and sterilization. Next, leave the ramet seedlings in a cool and ventilated place for 3-5 hours. After that, the root system can be trimmed properly, and the root system that grows too long should be cut properly. After that, plant ash still needs to be applied to the wound of the root system, and finally planted in the pot.

What we need to pay attention to is that each seedling should have more than 3 roots, 8-10 leaves, and 2-3 bud points. Of course, if some seedlings have too few roots or lateral buds due to improper operation or miscalculation, we can adopt the way of co-planting several seedlings in order to improve the survival rate of seedlings.

4. Maintenance and management

After the ramet seedlings have been planted in the pot, the next step is to do a good job in maintenance and management. It is mainly the work of light and temperature environment and water and fertilizer management, of course, the protection of diseases and insect pests is also an important management measure. I believe that as long as we do a good job of maintenance and management, we will be able to make the seedlings survive smoothly and grow gratifying.
