Pocket coconut not only has high ornamental value, but also can purify harmful substances in the air. Because its plant shape loves school, exquisite and chic, it is named "pocket coconut", which can be sown and propagated by seeds. So, how to grow pocket coconut seeds? Today, the editor will talk about it for you.

1. Seed acquisition

Pocket coconut is a kind of flowering foliage plant, which usually blossoms from April to May. It can bear fruit by artificial pollination. After about half a year, the fruit can be ripe and then picked for sowing.

2. Container preparation

In order to breed pocket coconuts by sowing, it is very important to choose a suitable container as the nursery. It is recommended to use wooden boxes to make seedbeds with moderate specifications and sizes.

3. Matrix preparation

Because pocket coconut likes fertile, loose, moist and well drained loam, it is suggested that the seedbed should be prepared with rotten leaf soil + mountain soil + humus soil + sand soil according to the ratio of 3 / 3 / 2 / 2 / 3.

4. Seed treatment

Before sowing, we need to carry on the necessary treatment to the picked seeds, first soak the seeds in warm water of 35-40 ℃ for about 36 hours, and wait for the seeds to absorb enough water to expand and shine before they can be used for sowing.

5. Sowing process

For the sowing of pocket coconuts, it is recommended to sow coconuts on demand, cover the soil about 1.5 cm thick after sowing the seeds, then water them once with a thin-mouth pot, and finally cover the wooden box with a layer of transparent glass and place it in a warm place for maintenance and management.

6. Maintenance and management

Keep the soil in the wooden box moist at ordinary times, and the temperature should be kept at 22-25 ℃. As long as the maintenance and management is proper, if nothing happens, the seeds will begin to sprout one after another after about a month.

7. Transplant into the pot

When the seedlings sprout a certain amount of roots and grow 2-3 needles, we can transplant the seedlings with soil balls into the pot. Of course, the basin soil with loose ventilation, good drainage of fertile humus soil is better, the bottom of the basin put a small amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer as the base fertilizer, at the same time can also add some mature organic fertilizer, and then sprinkle a small amount of carbofuran, dry smoke shavings and so on to prevent insect pests.

As the pocket coconut can bear shade, it can be used as indoor pot planting, usually, in addition to doing a good job in water and fertilizer management, we should also pay special attention to avoid direct sunlight, while maintaining a certain temperature and air humidity, the winter temperature will enter a dormant state when the temperature is lower than 13 ℃. Overwintering, we need to ensure that the temperature is above 10 ℃ to avoid frostbite.
