Iris is a very ordinary flower, but it is the national flower of France, and it is also used to make perfume in some places. This flower is shaped like a butterfly standing gently in a flowerpot, so some people also call it a blue butterfly. Iris has strong roots, broad leaves and strong vitality, so many potted friends like to plant this kind of flower as a family potted plant.

So, how to sow irises? Because it is difficult for irises to sow and reproduce, and it takes 2-3 years to grow into seedlings, this process is relatively time-consuming, so it is generally not recommended to use this method as a family potted plant, otherwise potted friends may wait for other flowers to thank and not wait for irises to grow up. However, even so, the editor also combines his own planting experience to share with you the sowing method of iris.

1. Select varieties

Although most varieties of iris have certain cold tolerance, considering the climatic and environmental conditions of the planting area, we need to choose a variety that is more suitable for local growth environment to sow.

2. Prepare the flowerpot

First of all, prepare a suitable flowerpot, it is recommended to use the shallow pot of bonsai, the best height is about 10 centimeters.

3. Sowing process

Fill the basin with seven or eight minutes of sand, and then spread the seeds evenly on the surface of the soil, about 1-2 centimeters apart. Then cover a layer of soil about 0.5 cm thick.

4. Immersion basin watering

After the sowing is finished, we can use the soaking basin method to replenish water. Slowly enter the flowerpot into the water, the water should not overflow the mouth of the basin, but it needs to be equal to the height of the sand in the basin. The water will slowly enter the soil from the drain at the bottom of the flowerpot. After the sand in the pot is completely soaked, the pot will be taken out of the water and placed in a place where the light is sufficient but not strong.

5. Post-management

In the later maintenance and management process, special attention should be paid to water replenishment. When the surface of the basin soil dries, the above soaking method can be used to replenish water, or a pointed spray can be used to slowly spray water through the soil. Under normal circumstances, the seeds will sprout and emerge after a week.
