How to propagate Evening Primrose by Cuttage

1. Cutting cuttings

2. Cuttings treatment

The optimum temperature for root germination of cuttings is between 18 ℃ and 25 ℃, but when the temperature is lower than 18 ℃, it will be difficult or very slow, but when the temperature is higher than 25 ℃, the cuttings are easy to breed bacteria and cause rot, and the higher the temperature is, the greater the degree of rot is. Therefore, in addition to regulating the temperature before cutting, it is also necessary to disinfect and sterilize the socket.

3. Cutting process

Cutting can be carried out when the branches are cut and treated, and the temperature is suitable. The cutting of evening primrose is very simple, you can insert its branches directly into the wet sandy soil, and then you only need to make sure that the basin soil stays moist, and as with sowing, you need to avoid stagnant water in the basin in the process of replenishing water.

4. Maintenance and management

After the cuttage is completed, the temperature suitable for the growth of cuttings should be adjusted first. When the temperature is too low, plastic film can be wrapped outside the flowerpot to achieve the effect of heat preservation and moisturization; when the temperature is too high, shading and cooling measures need to be taken, which can be replenished and cooled by spray and improve air humidity at the same time. You can spray 3-5 times a day, depending on the sunny and rainy weather.

In the later maintenance and management process, in addition to normal watering, it is also necessary to improve the air humidity through more spraying, which is recommended to be carried out 1-3 times a day to keep the air humidity between 75-85%. But do not spray too much, because too many times of spraying, cuttings are easy to be attacked by bacteria, resulting in rot, and bacteria often exist in the water.

In addition, it is necessary to increase the light appropriately. However, with the gradual strengthening of light, the temperature in the cuttings will also increase, and water transpiration will also accelerate, which is not conducive to the rapid survival of cuttings. Therefore, after the end of cutting, to make the plant receive less direct light, shading measures should be done in time; wait until the cuttings germinate roots and survive stable, and then gradually increase the light for it.
