Purple cabbage, also known as red cabbage, is a variety of cruciferous cabbage, is a perennial vegetable, mainly feed on the part of cabbage, mainly planted in the Yangtze River basin. As soon as this new type of vegetable came on the market, it was loved by many people, and then there began to be a large-scale promotion and planting, and the process of planting red cabbage will be described in detail in the following article.

1. Seed selection

There are a variety of cultivated varieties, and the varieties suitable for the local environment, strong adaptability and excellent genetic characters should be selected for open field cultivation in early spring, such as Carmine bolting; early maturing varieties are selected for planting from April to early May, such as No. 2 red cabbage; sowing in the first ten days of May, Erzaozi rape is selected.

2. Select the place

Select the sandy loam soil with deep and fertile, good drainage, ventilation and fertilizer preservation, good water retention to raise seedlings and plant. First turn the soil, turn the soil at 20 cm, the root system will not be too deep. Then the soil should be ploughed carefully, with no large lumps of mud and no consolidation. It is best to spray fungicides such as carbendazim on the seedbed, which is 1.2 meters wide and 5 meters long.

3. Sowing seeds

The seeds can be sowed directly and evenly on the seedbed and then covered with clean soil in centimeters. Spray water through the seedling bed, then cover the sunshade net or dry straw to keep warm. After watering once a day, it can be watered every two days after sprouting to avoid seedling blight or sudden collapse. After the emergence of the seedlings, remove the weak seedlings, diseased seedlings, and then refine the seedlings, without fertilizer and water, apply more fertilizer and water a week later, grow two true leaves and transplant.

4. Transplanting

Water thoroughly the day before transplanting to make it convenient for seedlings not to hurt their roots, and fertilize once with water a week ago, so as to ensure the survival rate of slow seedlings. Transplanting is carried out in cloudy days or in light rainy days to avoid excessive transpiration, and then the transplanting soil should not be too dry and should be properly irrigated three days ago. There will probably be a week of slow seedling stage, no watering, fertilization, and so on after a period of growth recovery before topdressing.

The planting of red cabbage has something in common with other vegetables, but there are also differences that should be carried out in accordance with its characteristics. For example, red cabbage seeds are small and thin, can be direct seeded, do not soak seeds to accelerate germination, and can also germinate quickly in the field. The above operation content can be used as a reference.
