In the last article, the editor shared with you the method of breeding young seedlings by sowing bamboo seeds. In fact, Phyllostachys pubescens, like many potted flower plants, can also achieve the purpose of breeding young plants by cutting. So, how to cut the Phoenix tail bamboo? Today, the editor will share with you the cutting method of Phoenix tail bamboo.

The cutting of Phyllostachys pubescens is often not easy to take root, so the time and methods of cutting should be scientific and reasonable, all for the purpose of promoting the smooth germination of seeds. If the conditions permit, the cutting time can usually be carried out from April to September, but it is most suitable for cutting from May to June; generally, mountain mud or clean sand is used as the cutting medium of Phyllostachys pubescens, and the cutting length is about 15 cm.

When it comes to cuttings, we need to emphasize here, because whether cutting can be successful or not, cutting is very important. Usually cut 2-3-year-old stem branches of Phyllostachys pubescens as cuttings, each cuttings need to have 1-3 nodes, and the lower part of the lowest node retains a length of 2-2.5 cm as a part inserted into the soil; while the upper part of the cuttings retains a 1 cm long unjointed part to prevent the lower nodes from losing too much water, and the length of each cuttings should be kept at about 15 cm.

When cutting, first insert the 2-2.5 cm reserved on the cuttings into the cutter, original and need to submerge the lowest stem nodes into the soil at a depth of about 1 cm, not too deep or too shallow. If it is too deep, the part of the soil is prone to rot; if it is too shallow, especially the stem nodes at the bottom do not touch the soil and cannot germinate normally. Because the germination point on the cuttings happens to be the part of the stem node.

After the completion of cutting, the most important thing is to do a good job of water replenishment management. On the one hand, it is necessary to keep the cutter with suitable humidity for cuttings germination; on the other hand, the air humidity should also be suitable, which can be sprayed 6-7 times a day to improve the humidity. The air humidity should be kept at about 85%, while avoiding direct sunlight, but bright enough. In other words, before the cuttings germinate, the placement of the flowerpot should avoid 80% of the 90% light, which can effectively reduce water evaporation and promote rooting.

If it goes well, the root sprouting phenomenon of cuttings can be seen in about one month. When the cuttings produce new leaves, we can be sure that the cuttage of Phyllostachys pubescens has been successful, then we can choose an appropriate time for pot transplanting.
