From ancient times to the present, the image of plum blossom in people's hearts is clank and arrogant, not afraid of the severe winter and Ling Han alone. If the plum blossom is made into a bonsai and placed in the home environment, it is not only very elegant, but also good in color and fragrance, bringing people a kind of pleasing enjoyment. However, if you want to get an ornamental and artistic bonsai of plum blossoms, the modeling process is very critical.

According to the schools of plum blossom bonsai, there is a difference between rules and nature, which can be divided into traditional modeling and modern natural plum pile modeling. The traditional modeling is mainly pimple plum, split plum, Shunfeng plum, screen plum, you Longmei; modern natural plum pile shape is often straight dried plum, oblique dried plum, Qugan plum, double dried plum, cliff plum and so on. So, how to shape the common plum blossom bonsai?

Most of the common plum blossom bonsai are plum pile bonsai, which generally take the means of pruning, flat binding, bending, carving and grafting to complete the modeling. The following editor briefly introduces these modeling methods.

1. Pruning

For natural plum pile bonsai, pruning is generally used to shape, but trimming is divided into stereotyping and decoration. Shaping is mainly through pruning and fixing the basic skeleton of plum piles, which is generally carried out in winter; finishing is mainly to cut off those branches that are not conducive to modeling, such as common parallel branches, overlapping branches, dead branches, disease and insect branches, cross branches and so on.

2. Panza

In the last article, the editor mentioned that the modeling of plum blossom bonsai should adopt the principle of "rough tie and fine cut". The modeling method of Panza is a traditional method in our country, but it is widely used. It can be carried out when the diameter of the trunk reaches 1 cm, including lateral branches can also be properly tied with brown rope or wire. However, after setting, the flat binding tools should be removed in time so as not to cause damage to the branches. And Panza has more ways, which can be chosen according to modeling needs and personal preferences.

Third, bending

Sometimes, in order to achieve the modeling effect we need, it is also necessary to use bending means to operate. The method is to hang the trunk or main branch by hanging, sawing, prickling and other ways to achieve the bending effect, through local or detailed efforts, so as to change the shape of the plum tree as a whole, so that it can achieve the effect we need. The specific way to do it depends on our design requirements.

IV. Carving and decoration

Carving is generally carried out according to the situation after the shape of the plum pile is basically finalized or completed. The purpose of carving is mainly to let the plum pile show the effect of being old but full of natural wild interest, which can often play the role of the finishing touch or achieve the effect of icing on the cake for the whole bonsai work, and even make up for the deficiencies caused in the modeling process.

5. Grafting

Grafting is like performing a major operation on a plum pile, or more accurately, in order to better create a beautiful shape. On the one hand, it can improve the external shape of the plum pile, on the other hand, it can add the missing branches to the plum pile, and another aspect is that it can improve the variety of the pile crown. And there are many ways of grafting, mainly branch grafting, leaning grafting and bud grafting. As it has been introduced in previous articles related to tree stumps and bonsai, the editor will not repeat them here.
