Lavender is the first choice of family potted plants by many potted friends because of its striking fragrance and high ornamental value. So, can lavender be cut? In fact, lavender can be propagated by sowing, cuttage, striping, stem splitting and so on. However, taking into account, as a family pot users, more use of cuttings to breed potted seedlings.

Cutting is a means of breeding young plants often used by many flowers and plants, which is not only easy to operate, but also has a high survival rate. And it is also very convenient to move the basin in the later stage. Next, the editor will share with you the cutting methods of lavender.

1. Cutting time

The cutting propagation of lavender can be carried out in spring and autumn, from the Mid-Autumn Festival in the first year to the Dragon Boat Festival in the coming year. Even in summer, softwood cuttings can be cut to survive. However, the summer temperature is too high, the natural requirements of the cutting environment is relatively high, we must do a good job of moisturizing, otherwise the cuttings are easy to wither because of dehydration. The autumn temperature is mostly kept between 15-25 ℃, which is the most suitable for cutting and breeding lavender.

2. Selection of cuttings

The quality of cuttings will directly affect the survival effect of cuttings. Original so, we usually choose well-developed strong branches as cuttings. Generally, the sturdy branches are cut from the adult plants, and the branches are cut at an oblique angle about 10 cm from the first leaf. If there are flowers on the branches, cut off the flowers and remove about 2% of the leaves on the cuttings to avoid nutrient consumption after cutting.

3. Cutting process

First of all, perlite and peat soil were mixed in proportion, and then mixed well as the cutting medium. Then wet the cutting substrate with water, and insert the cuttings into the substrate with a depth of about 3 cm. Finally, the cuttage flowerpot is placed in a place where scattered light can be received and good ventilation conditions are maintained. During the period to do a good job of hydrating and moisturizing, to avoid direct sunlight, about 3-4 weeks can take root and sprout. And then resume normal maintenance management.

IV. Management at seedling stage

When the seedlings take root and sprout smoothly, they should be provided with light gradually, and pay attention to adjust the temperature and maintain the appropriate humidity, which can better promote the growth of roots and keep the seedlings growing well. And lavender seedlings are more sensitive to water, so watering can not be too much, can not be served by flood, it is better to keep the basin soil a little dry. After the cuttings have grown for 2 months, we can transplant them.
